Re: What Would You Do? Car Advice Needed...
I might have a different opinion, but I would consider the cost of repairs in the future. One of the reasons I wouldn't buy a luxury car is that it seems like everything for it is more expensive - parts, servicing, insurance etc.
I would prefer to buy a new car that would have less costly repairs than a Lexus. Keep in mind I am someone who doesn't care if I drive a luxury car or the cheapest one around, as long as it gets me from point A to point B safely and without breaking down.

I also agree that a high end car has more costly repairs.
Just on my Honda Accord, I blew out a tire and it cost about $230! One freakin tire because it was a high performance tire. It was just one so I couldn't put a lesser tire on it.
I once was offered an Audi from my uncle from his dealership back in the day..sure I could afford the price of it but to put a tire on it was about $200. At the time I was about 19 and could never afford to keep that up. An oil change was $125!
Just something to consider.

Is there still a warranty? If not, then no. Some makers allow you to purchase an extension to the warranty even after you have purchased it. Look into that. Otherwise, I would spend another 4 thousand and find something new, which you can do.

Re: What Would You Do? Car Advice Needed...
Does you uncle want it for himself? Is that why he is trying to talk you out of it?
Sorry but it sounds like a damned good deal to me. And no offense to anyone who drives a ford SUV, but historically Lexus sedans are better mechanically than Fords have been. JMHO.
ALso, BTW, any toyota mechanic can also fix a lexus, since they are very similar in the way they are made (usually identical)

and you can use toyota parts- it's pretty much a camery with a L on the front
I would take a used lexus over a Ford anyday
(and we have a Ford)

(and we have a Ford) Yes, most Lexus models, even their trucks, can use a toyota part
I have had Ford trucks & I trashed every one of them with just normal driving. (well normal for me anyway)

I appreciate the continued imput from everyone - my uncle definitely does not want it for himself - he is in a position that he can afford to buy $100k+ cars every year or so, and does - so he definitely is not looking to get this - lol./ So - I don't know yet why he thinks it's not a good deal - maybe because he's not used to used cars? I am planning on emailing him tomorrow and getting more info from him.
I'm glad to hear that it sounds like the car would be able to be fixed with Toyota parts - is that what you are saying?
