What would you do? re daycare teacher
Daycare is open 7am-6pm. He has two regular teachers for the day, but their hours aren't the full 7-6, so sometimes when we drop off in the morning there's someone in the room for awhile until other 2 come in, and one leaves earlier than the other and there's another teacher in the room in the afternoon. Recently, they've been putting this other girl in the room in the afternoon, who used to be in a room with like 3-4 years olds (DS in in the infant 2 room at 14 months). I'm really not happy with this girl. When I pick up, she's never involved in anything the kids are doing (and there's usually only my DS and another kid or two left by that point). She'll just sit and watch them play, doesn't even seem to talk to them. She seems totally useless. My DH had to pick up one day last week and he said this afternoon chic picked up another little boy who was crying in the high chair, told him he'd better stop cause she wasn't gonna keep holding him, and then was hanging onto him by one arm basically and then plopped him on the ground and left him crying to wash cups. I know that at this point they don't need to pick up the kids everytime they cry, but this and everything else I've seen with her, I don't want her in the room. I already feel like they think I'm the PITA parent, but I want to say something and I have no idea how to go about this one without having people be more POd with me (I don't care about me, I just don't want anyone to treat my DS differently because they don't like me when I'm not there and don't know it's happeneing). Or maybe I should just leave it...some of these teachers are switched between rooms so often, she might be back in the older room in 2 weeks anyway... I don't know what to do. Advice?
ETA She's in the room about 2 hoursint he afternoon, and maybe about one of those hours by herself when a lot of kids have already gone home.

Re: What would you do? re daycare teacher
I would ask that she not be allowed to watch your DC. I had my son in a day care where there were students at times. Thankfully i liked all of them, but if I ever saw one not involved and engaging with the children on a regular basis, I would complain, and request she not care for MY child. You have that right. I worry so much about abuse etc..and if I saw someone without compassion and patience, I just would not be able to leave my DC there.
GOOD LUCK!

I would go and voice your concerns and observations to the Directors/owners. You shouldn't feel bad to speak up. You pay (alot I am sure, since daycare around here isn't cheap) for good care. I know they have to clean up the room and have stuff to do, but their primary reponsibiliity is to care for your child.

Re: What would you do? re daycare teacher
I would definitely talk with the director about it. Even if this teacher goes back to the older room, eventually, your DS will be in the older room and with her again.
My DS has 3 regular teachers and various fill-ins throughout different points of any given day, but they all seem to interact well with the children.
Good luck!
