What's a good age for Disney?

I want both of my boys to be able to enjoy it. DS#1 will be 2 next week and DS#2 is only 4.5 months. I want to go so that they can both enjoy it. Is next summer too soon, seeing as DS#2 will only be a little over 1?

I think when the younger is 2. We went for a day when DS was 1 and he was curious but didn't really get much out of it, but you could probably at a minimum go when your youngest is 1

Re: What's a good age for Disney?

The first time we took DS he was 22m and it was ideal. He was old enough that he was talking, could skip a nap here and there, didnt need a hard set schedule, but young enough that he just went with the flow and we didnt need to see everything.

DS2 will be 2 in April and I would like to take them again around that time.

ETA: Also good thing, at Disney, under 3yo they are free so we have taken DS1 2x and never paid for him for tickets food etc. The first time we went we didnt need to buy him a plane ticket either so we felt if he didnt like it no biggie as he didnt cost us anything!

What's a good age for Disney?

I was going to post the same question!! I am looking to go in March and DD will 3 weeks shy of 2 yro. I wanted to go before we had to pay for a plane ticket.

I just wasn't sure if she would be too young to really enjoy it and if we did go should we create a schedule for the parks?

ETA: Under 3 yro I know they are free to get in to the parks but all food is free too? How does that work?

Nicole, we did the dining plan and they are allowed to eat off your plates or from buffets. A few places we did order DS1 a separate meal and they didnt charge us. So maybe its not 100% free but if you plan right its mostly free.

Let me know if you find good deals, I am looking to take the boys before DS2 turns 2 as well in mid april!

As far as her enjoying it, I can only speak for my DS but he was a blast! He loved the fireworks and each night hte minute the sun went down he would start yelling, "fireworks, where are you", he hated the characters, but went on more rides than I can count and loved each one.
We didnt have a real set schedule, just a basic based on our meals. The week we were there was incredibly hot so we would do a park in teh am, come back to the hotel to swim or nap, then go back to a park in the pm and stay until after fireworks. It was a great trip!!!

DS was 18 monts the first time and we couldn't get over how much he enjoyed it. My litte one was only a little over 1 when we went last year and he didn't quite get it, but h did enjoy all of the rides.

I think 5 & up is the way to go. You can go at any age but if you're looking for the age that they'll remember & still be into the characters between 5 - 8 yo.

Re: What's a good age for Disney?

We went just before DS turned 4. Ideally, I would have waited another year, but I wasn't sure I wanted to pull him out of school for the trip once he was in Kindergarten, and I will never go there on a school break. He had a good time, but I think he would have gotten more out of it if he were a year or two older.

As for kids under 3 being free, I was willing to pay to bring him when he was older. Disney is totally set up for families, but for me personally, I didn't want to have to deal with diapers and bottles and all of that if we were going to be out of the hotel for most of the day. You will get a variety of opinions on this, but for me personally, I wanted to wait until he was older.

We are planning on surprising DD for her 5th birthday..like the Disney commercials....in Feb. 2016 Chat Icon. I can't wait!!

IMO - any younger than that she wouldn't remember the trip after a few weeks.
