whats the best treatment for diaper rash?
DS is 5.5 months and i noticed he was pretty red last night (he usually poops 2x a day but yesterday it was 5x)
this morning he is very red on one butt cheek and scrotum. looks a little chapped and the sitter just said he was bleeding a little.

Best IMO is to let them go without a diaper as long as possible. Next best thing is frequent diaper changes and triple paste. If that doesn't help, your ped could probably prescribe something stronger.

i read to do no diaper. i plan on doing that when i get him tonight, jut hope he doesnt pee everywhere lol

Ditto to airing them out whenever possible. at that age it's actually easy....I laid DD on the changing table pad on our bed...on top of a waterproof sheet. Just put the tv on so there was something for her to stare at and it was fine.
Try a combo of things...a thin layer of aquaphor or bacitracin ointment...that will help with the bleeding. Then do a layer of Desitin Max Strength (purple tube)...that always worked best in our house...and DD got rashes a lot at that age. Also Lotrimin cream works great on bad rashes too...it's usually in the athlete's foot section....buy store brand if they have - it's cheaper!

do you think the baby gown is a good idea to put on him? that way the chill doesnt make him pee but he'll still get some air up there?

Triple Paste is the only thing I used on my DS and my DD for a while. I would put it on any redness and by the next diaper change it was already better.
Lately I started using Healthy Baby Bottom cream from Lavanila. It is all natural and absolutely AMAZING! I'm going to start getting it for everyone I know who has a baby!

DD had bad diaper rash and I use extra strength desitin and that got rid if it.. i actually use it all the time and she hasn't had a diaper rash since.
