I think it is because you are "older" now and expecting to have a family, or be more stable. Enough goofing around - it's time to be a grown up - with a real job and real responsibilities. There are different expectations on the "30"s than the "20"s

That being said - it's just a number. I am much happier at 32 than I was in my early twenties.

I do feel much more stable...and even though there is less partying - I still have plenty of fun.

BUT the down side is I am much closer to 40 - which is a scary # to me. Not sure why.

every b-day after 20 that ends in a 0 is traumatic. JMO

I choose to look at it this way...

Yes, with every birthday I grow older but it certainly beats the alternative

I guess I look at it that way since my mom died when she was 38, one year older than I am I'm grateful for whatever time I get, so what if I'm showing some signs of aging.

I hate the idea of turning 30. I still have 2 1/2 years left, but it still upsets me. I don't like the idea of getting older. I want to stay in my 20s forever. It has nothing to do with being responsiable or starting a family, it has to do with aging. I don't want to look old!!! Not that you look old at 30 but you are that much closer.

I'll be 30 in 5 months. For me, the pressure and fears are all my own. I know I dont look 30 and I know that it is just a number and that 30 doesn't mean the end of your life. I think I just had all these plans and goals and things to do by the time I was 30 and they were never done. It's not to say I'm unhappy, b/c I'm not. I also don't embrace it b/c I'm my mom's only kid and I feel bad for her to say her daughter is 30.

I am 30 and I know I don't look it, but I just feel like when someone hears my age they sort of "take stock" of where I am in life. Like do I have kids, marriage, house, etc.

I am the type of person that figured I'd be a multimillionaire by the age of 25 latest and that I would be on my way to retirement by now. It's taking longer but I am happier now than I was in my early 20's for sure. I just wish we had a baby but we're trying.

Didn't bother me at all. Now I'm closing in on 34 and still, not phased.

Listen, as long as I'm still here and still healthy...that's all that matters to me.

For me the problem is not so much turning 30 as it is not being in my 20's anymore, if that makes any sense.

I honestly thought 30 was no big deal. I cried when I turned 40. That sucks.

I dont know.....I think its because my sister is 25 and now I'll be out of my 20's soon, so its making me depressed that she is still so young, and I'm feeling old......She likes to rub it in my face too--lol

Wasn't a big deal for me too! I have the job I always dreamed of, love going to work everyday! I have my husband, house, cat, dog, and even got my master's this spring...everything I always wanted and am so content with life an dbeing happy in the moment. I definitly live and love for today and try to stay in the moment as much as possible..Don't stess about the small stuff and handle whatever comes at me. I am happy being 32 minus a few wrinkles from the sun

I have 364 days to ponder this and I am already freaked out! I know I am safely one year behind the years Elvis has been dead BUT all of his fans yesterday were freaking out over 30. Elvis is the only thing in age I have to compare myself, too.

I really didn't know what the big deal was. It's just a number. I don't feel or look 30 so I'm thankful!!

leaving one of the most poignant decades of your life- where you go from carzy kid to grown up adult all in a very short time. it's so hard to say goodbye.

I love turning a year older. no matter what it is, what I look like, what happens to my breasts/skin/crows feet...whatever.

it's waaayyyyy better than being dead (the alternative to aging)

I looked forward to my 30th. I was in a great place in my life and I was very happy.

Compared to other 30 yr olds, I'm a bit of a late bloomer. But I was very happy, so I didn't let the comparisons get me down. (I still try not to let them get to me.)

Surprisingly, the birthdays after my 30th have been quiet and uneventful. They aren't special anymore.

I think turning 30 is all in your head and it's different for every one. It is what you imagine and want it to be. In my head, turning 30 this year meant I was getting old and my life as a kid was over. That was rather depressing to me. It didn't help either that I found three completely white hairs on my head right around then. If you're cool with it, more power to you.
