Whats the sleeping in policy in your house?

After reading some posts, I realise that some peoples live in lovers don't like to get up in the morning.

In my house, we usually do a You sleep in Saturday, I'll sleep in Sunday and that works pretty well for us.

To be fair, my husband usually gets up with Noah most mornings because he can't get back to sleep after Noah wakes up and he is dying for a coffee...so either way, I seem to win!

Re: Whats the sleeping in policy in your house?

I get up with DD all week because I drive her my ILs before I go to work. DH wakes up with her on sat and I wake up with her on Sunday. At least I usually get one morning a week to sleep in a little.

my dh works till late at night so he's exhausted in the morning. i nurse ds in the early moring. ds wakes at 9am, i get him at 9:30 to snuggle in bed with us for a bit. then dh does a diaper and dresses him while i make breakfast. i feed ds and dh goes to feed our cat and dog.

DH is Superman...he gets up with her every morning and get her fed and dressed and off to daycare. He also, for the most part gets up in the middle of the night if she wakes up. Weekends, we take turns, basically whoever wakes up, gets up with DD.

Our policy is that DH doesn't even hear him, ever.Chat Icon Or the dog. I have to deal with both of them if he is sleeping.

It's always been this way. Although, he promised when I went back to work to help me in the middle of the night, but he never didChat Icon Chat Icon

In his defense, I actually think he just doesn't hear DS. If he woke up and ignored it, I'd be madder.

My Husband usually wakes up about 5:40 to take a shower for work, and by the time he is done at 6:00 my DS is awake. So my DH changes and feeds him. I then get up at 6:15-6:30 and take over. My husband then often will wash his bottles out for the day even they were not done the night before. Then by 6:40 my DH leaves for work and I am home with my DS.

On the weekends we don't have a policy. Who ever gets up first takes care of DS.

My DH likes to take care of my DS in the morning because at least 3 evenings a week he comes home after our DS is sleeping. He is an angel for washing the bottles in the morning becaue I absolutely hate doing this. Chat Icon Chat Icon

Re: Whats the sleeping in policy in your house?

Policy.....what's that....in this house its mommy on call 24/7 every week. Granted DH does work nights so Sun-Thurs night he's gone & doesn't get home until after I leave in the am & then Friday he sometimes works for his friend so he's not here at night & Sat. I'm still on duty Chat Icon

Thankfully she sleeps through the night, but I'd love to have one sleep in day. He just doesn't hear her though & if I go through the stress of waking up & bringing her in the bed w/ him, it kinda defeats the purpose.

I (almost) always sleep in, and he gets up. Today I got up at 10am.

He's more of a morning person, so he's usually up anyway.

Re: Whats the sleeping in policy in your house?

Since Brian is the full time bread winner.... I am mommy full time - 24/7. It doesn't bother me tho - I know all of her cries best, and know what she wants when she wants it.

I have it easier than most.... DD is 3 months, and is already sleeping 12 hours straight every night.... She has put herself on a schedule that is no later than 7:30 at night to sleep and is awake at around 7 am every day.

Re: Whats the sleeping in policy in your house?

I get up every single morning.

But, Leo doesn't get home till 2:30-3ish anyway...so its not fair to expect him to function on 3 hours of sleep.

If its his day off, he will offer to get up, but it never works out anyway...then he is tired and lays around all day.

Re: Whats the sleeping in policy in your house?

I get up with my children 7days a wk plus put them to bed. I never ask dh to because he works Mon-Fri and most Saturdays (1/2 a day) and I'm a SAHM so I kinda feel bad to even ask. But if he would offer to get up with one of them I would not turn him down Chat Icon I also can't complain because during the wk they get up around 7:30-8am and on weekends between 8-9 so it's really not bad anyway.

When DS would wake at night, DH would get him and in exchange I would wake up with DS in the morning while DH got a little more sleep. Worked for both of us...I can't function in the middle of the night...and he's not a morning person.

Now that DS sleeps through the night Chat Icon we both wake in the morning with him.

*This is just the weekend policy. We both work during the week and are up at the same time.

I have yet to have a day to sleep in. Even if he gets up with her in the am and feeds her he finds a way to wake me up too/Chat Icon

Our deal is that dh gets up on Saturdays with dd but in all honesty that might happen once a month.... and on that morning she is in the living room screaming for me anyways.

IN his defense I am asleep most nights by 9:30 and he has a very hard time falling asleep at a reasonable time.

Re: Whats the sleeping in policy in your house?

We all get up around the same time on the weekdays, and DH and I each attend to DD as we are all getting ready in the morning. On weekends, we usually trade off. When we have another, I think the trading off is all over and we will both get up when the kids get up.

I get up with Caden during the week b/c DH is already off to work...On the weekends we usually trade off and he gets up with him..although I'll do it if DH has been up late.

Caden still wakes up at night and it's DH who gets up with him so if he's been up with him a lot during the night I'll get up in the morning..

Re: Whats the sleeping in policy in your house?

During the week, I wake Lily at 6am so I can feed and dress her before I go to work. Then I put her back in her crib, and she falls asleep until it's time for my husband to bring her to my father's for the day.
On the weekends, I usually wake up with her, but she gets up at 7 or 8, so it's not terrible. Once in a while, my husband will get up and feed her, to give me a little breakChat Icon .

Re: Whats the sleeping in policy in your house?

During the week we both get up with him since we both work.

Our "policy" for weekends is supposed to be that I take care of him Saturday mornings and DH on Sundays. Including today I think DH has actually let me sleep 4 times since we enacted this policy. Some mornings I simply can't get back to sleep. While other mornings DH says that I "enable" him to go back to sleep because I snuggle with DS preventing him from taking him. Yeah right, way to throw it back on me.

We just made a new policy for the summer since he is a school teacher and will have off. DS will be in daycare 2 half days in the morning just so that he has some social time. Then MIL has him her standard two days which she won't give up. SO, i told DH that he needs to get up with him both weekend days so I can sleep since he has basically the whole weekday mornings to himself. We'll seeChat Icon
