What's your traditional New Year's Day Meal?
Pork and Sauerkraut in Lancaster Co. I don't care for sauerkraut, so I plan to have ham, pot. and green beans, with pineapple stuffing. What will you be having, and do you plan to eat with family/friends? This is the pineapple stuffing recipe I use:

Re: What's your traditional New Year's Day Meal?
Growing up we ALWAYS had black-eyed peas, aka Hoppin' John. Of course, DH and the DC won't eat it. I still make it and just give 1/2 to XH's new wife who grew up about an hour from me.
For them I will usually do a stuffed loin of pork with assorted sides.

Hoppin' John is made with black-eyed peas, some sort of pork flavoring (ham, bacon, sausage, etc...) and onions. It's served over white rice and traditional NYD sides are collard or turnip greens and corn bread. No one but me will eat the greens (including the new wife) so I skip that and just make the corn bread.

I've never tasted collard/turnip greens!! What do they taste like, Christine? If it has onions in it, my Husband would like it!!! Mary
