When a group of friends fight

How do you decide which side to take?

The one you are better friends with?
The one that is right?
The one you agree with more?

Do you listen to all sides or just one and presume you know the whole story??

Re: When a group of friends fight

I try to stay neutral and not take sides. I either stay out of it or try to be the peacemaker.

Re: When a group of friends fight

I take a side if something was said or done that affects me and then it is easy to decide.

I either listen to both sides and try to be peacemaker, or I stay out of it and STFU. No sense in only hearing one side and then ASSume I know the whole story. Because you know what happens when you ASSume anything.

I haven't taken "sides" since I was in elementary school.

I've never ended a relationship because one friend had an issue with another friend. I'm usually the peace maker.

Re: When a group of friends fight

I'm always willing to listen to all sides - key word LISTEN.

I will never take a side unless it directly involves me in some way. Otherwise, I am an ear to listen and stay neutral.

Re: When a group of friends fight

Just remember, there are three sides to every story - person, person and the truth.
I listen to what people say and then make my judgements regarding what really may have happened. I almost never take sides though, unless someone does something really wrong.

But it sucks when you are the one who has friendships ended with you because people took sidesChat Icon

As for what I would do.....well it's hard to say.........and I guess it depends on the circumstance. BUT I would hope to be able to help them resolve it because sometimes it takes an outside perspective to make people see that what they are disagreeing about CAN be resolved.

Then I'd question whether the person was a true "friend" of mine to begin with.

Re: When a group of friends fight

I listen to both sides. If I think one side is wrong, I tell them why I think they're wrong & attempt to mend the bridge between the friends.

If the side I think is wrong escalates matters, then it could go either way. I may stay friends with them both but not think the same way or depending the severity of it, I may not stay friends with them because I don't need that kind of drama in my life.
