When and how do I transition DD from a sippy cup to a regular cup? Experienced parents---please lend some advice.
DD is showing interest in drinking from a real cup. She is 26 months. How do I transition her? She doesn't really have the control to handle a regular cup. The few times we have tried she has worn whatever is in the cup. Is there a special cup that you went to before totally switching over? TIA

Anyone else have any experiences that they can share?

My advice is give the kid the cup and let them get wet, thats the best way to find out not to tip it up too much. Thats what my son did, until one day he learned to drink it slowly!

That's not a bad idea-fill it with water, maybe. I have no ideas. I let DD drink from a cup when she is sitting with me, she has shown interest-but NO skill-since about 12 months. She is almost 16 months and has not made much progress, but she keep trying so I let her.

While it doesn't sounds like a bad approach, I hate that my DD is so darn sensitive. If she gets her shirt wet, it's an all out meltdown. In this case, it sounds like a task that might have to wait for the summer.

What about giving her straws with real cups if you are afraid of the spillage?
Other than that I think the "let them get wet" approach is all I've heard of.
Logan's started now, but only at the table and only with dixie cups.

Good idea! I think I'll get some and just put a sip in at a time. Thanks!
