Re: when did you face the car seat forward?

DD is 14 1/2 months old and she is still rear facing. I'm not really sure when we're going to turn it around.

DD just turned 11months we'll be turning it around as soon as she's a year. She HATES not being able to see what's going on and car rides have become such a hassle

I did it around 13 mos. with DD#2 and 12 mos. in my car and 15 mos. in DH's car with DD#1. Rear facing is safest!

Re: when did you face the car seat forward?

Is your DD at least 20lbs? It's one year and 20lbs, although they recommend you stay rear facing up to the seat limit. DD is 17 months and still rear facing.

Re: when did you face the car seat forward?

I just had our convertible installed last week and the guy said that you should keep your DC rear facing as long as possible. They must be 20lbs and 1 year but there really isn't a reason to turn them until their legs are really cramped. He most parents are more uncomfortable with their child rear facing than the child actually is.

At his 1 year appt. the ped. told me to turn around DS's seat because he is so tall.

Re: when did you face the car seat forward?

They have to be 1 year and atleast 20 pounds my Dr. said they made them forward facing for a reason at that age and usually it's because they can sustain broken legs if your in an accident if they are rear facing for more than 1 year!!!!

Re: when did you face the car seat forward?

One year. She was 20 pounds and hated riding backwards. And I hated not being able to see her.
We have a lot of fun dancing together in the car now!

Re: when did you face the car seat forward?

i would say it all depends on DC's size...

we switched ours a week after DS bday, but he is a big boy -- then he was 25 lbs/31 in...his legs were squished rear facing...

i have heard that rear facing is the safest up to 2 yrs old so i would say keep him RF as long as he is comfy...

Re: when did you face the car seat forward?

Ella was 17-18 months. She was content sitting backwards, and it took her that long to hit 20 lbs.

But even if she was 20lbs at a year, I would have waited as long as possible.

Re: when did you face the car seat forward?

My daughter was 20 pounds before her first birthday, but I waited until 21 months to turn her. It really is safest (there are some really convincing videotapes online with test dummies showing the impact if you need proof), so as long as you/dc can tolerate it, keep the seat as it is.

Same here. She's content backwards, and that's where I'll keep her for as long as possible b/c she still fits.
