When did you start prenatals? And are OTC okay?
So, my insurance doesn't cover the prenatals that my dr. prescribed (though it may just be a thing that they won't cover unless i send away).
But anyways, I found OTC ones much cheaper - are those okay? will I be missing anything big?
Also - my Dr said to start taking them now since we plan to TTC this summer, is that normal? It seemed early to me.
TIA

Def. start taking them now. And the OTC brands are fine. I actually just got the target up up brand. It's the one with the two pills. I actually compared them to the one a day pre-natals and they had the EXACT same amounts of everything. And for almost 5 dollars cheaper.

I am taking the target brand prenatals. I was taking them off and on for the past few months. Now I am taking them full time.

Are there chewable options? I currently take Centrum , but they only have 4000 mcg of folic acid.

I asked something similar!
A few people told me(including my obgyn) it is fine to take OTC ones. People here suggested taking ones that have the RHA supplement. I take the Up and Up Target brand.

Re: When did you start prenatals? And are OTC okay?
OB said to take a Woman's One A Day along with another supplement of Folic Acid so thats what I take. I would def. start taking them now. I started taking my prenatals as soon as I got off the pill.

I started taking the Target brand almost a year before actively TTC. It doesn't hurt to take them, even when not TTC. They've done wonders for my hair and nails!

OTC are fine. When you get PG, just bring them to the OB and make sure he approves

I did the same, since I started taking samples of prenatals and couldn't find one that didn't negatively effect my stomach!

Try the ones from Trader Joes. Vitamins always made ne nauseous, but I was fine on those.
