When did you tell your family

I told a few people at work because I have been feeling sick and if I had to run out I need them to cover for me. But now I feel guilty my parents and dh mom doesn't know. But I really want to do something cute and announce during Christmas. Am I being silly?

When did you tell your family

We told our parents after our first doctors appointment - we saw them at different times, so between 8 and 10 weeks.

Totally not the same, but we wanted to wait until Thanksgiving to announce to the extended family, so we are waiting to tell them. We announced that we were pregnant with DD at Thanksgiving two years ago, so we wanted to wait and announce #2 the same way.

We told most of our friends and my office already.

I say if you want to wait, then wait.

Re: When did you tell your family

I told my parents at 12 weeks and DH's parents at 14 weeks. My siblings all knew before my parents but I wanted to wait until I was nearing the 2nd trimester before telling my parents.

Re: When did you tell your family

With DS I waited until after the NT scan, so around 13-14 weeks.

This time, assuming all goes well, we will tell them on Christmas. It's just too perfect an opportunity to pass up. We've had three babies announced at past Christmases so it's become a running joke who is going to announce every year. I'm so excited that I'll be able to get in on the tradition! I'll be about 9.5 weeks then. I just pray everything goes well until then.

Re: When did you tell your family

8 weeks. I will be telling DD and SS on thanksgiving eve so DD can tell the family on thanksgiving. I wanted to wait until 12 weeks (on christmas) but I am getting fat really fast, sick, tired, and my mom already asked me since I quit smoking.

Re: When did you tell your family

Only 2 of my best friends know and I feel guilty that they know and not my family. I think dh and I will tell are families after the 1st appointment which will be the 29th. I wish it was before Thanksgiving also so we could have a sono for Thanksgiving and tell everyone but it is what it is. I can't wait to start telling people. Its killing me keeping it a secret!

We told our parents as soon as the blood test confirmed I was pregnant, which was 11dpo. I had a BFP at 10dpo and that was the longest 24 hour wait!

We are waiting until after the first sono on Friday...I am so annoyed that it is after Thanksgiving, I am going to have to do a lot of fake drinking. We will be having so many people over my parents that I don't really feel the need to tell this early on...I am 6 weeks.

You could also say that you drank so much last night that you don't feel like looking at another drink today. I just did that Sunday Chat Icon

I told my sister when I found out and my mother in law yesterday (7wks5d). Our first appointment is today and if all goes well then I'm ok with people knowing.

Re: When did you tell your family

Nope! My parents were some of the last to know because I wanted it to be special for them! Don't tell too many though, my bro slipped and told my parents before I could.

Re: When did you tell your family

My mother guessed when I was like 6 weeks. I didn't tell the rest of my family until 8 weeks when we saw the heartbeat.

Re: When did you tell your family

We told our immediate family right away--we were just too excited. We told our extended family and friends after the NT scan. We wanted to wait until Thanksgiving but my mom spilled the beans to most of the family anyway lol

We had a shirt made for DD - that is how we told our parents and siblings. It said:

Only Child
Expiring May 2013

Re: When did you tell your family

We were supposed to wait till after our first appointment, but I got anxious and talked DH into letting me tell my parents. My mom was so excited to be the first to know!!!! My parents live in Alaska so it was just a phone call but very special. The next day we told his mom, step dad, brother and sister in law. We brought our puppy over ina shirt that said Only child crossed out and in big writing BIG BROTHER!!! It was a fun way to tell them!!! Super touching!!

not quite this, but pretty close. ITA with gina though, no right or wrong, it's just what you feel good about. I also had a scare a week or two in and liked being able to lean on my family for support.

My first DS I also told right away, that time bc a different medical issue came up (bad timing) and when we were talking about that, the pregnancy came out.
