Re: When did your DC have a word explosion?

12-14 months. I was adding new words to the running list constantly. I've actually stopped keeping track because she's just repeating everything I say so it's gotten to be too many. The latest- 'Crazy' & 'Jeez' (I was driving)Chat Icon

Re: When did your DC have a word explosion?

DS had 1 word at 17m, about 10-20 words at 18m, and now at 19m, I can't count how many words he has.

I was so worried at 17m that I got him tested by EI and now he adds multiple words daily.

We're still waiting here too.

DD is 17 months old and only has about 10 or so words. She understands a TON but doesn't actually speak the words.

between 15-18 months. She had very few words before then (I think maybe 6) and then all of a sudden she started saying multiple new words a day and started putting 2 words together shortly after. It was amazing.

DS was the same way! Once he got the hang of it there was no stopping him.

Re: When did your DC have a word explosion?

I feel like it's happening about now, around 16 months. Though she could've been saying other words lately and I couldn't tell.Chat Icon She's a little parrot now, repeating everything, and she's labeling too so that I know she's really saying what she's saying.

Re: When did your DC have a word explosion?

Cai started to repeat more at 20 mts. At 15 mts he still only had a few words....

I remember we went away before his 2nd bday, and he started speaking so much. By his 2nd bday, he had his word explosion. And has NOT shut up since!!! Chat Icon

Re: When did your DC have a word explosion?

Between 15 and 18 months, DS started saying more words. By 20 months, he was making a real effort to repeat a lot of words I said. He's 23 months old now. He has a ton of words and is now finally starting to string more words together.
