When did your DC learn to drink from a straw cup?
Thomas is 15 months and has no clue!!  He bites on it and smiles at me!
When did your DC learn to drink from a straw?
Does it confuse the child to give several different kind of sippys and/or straw cups? Is it better to offer only one kind?

Halisa gave me great advice...and it worked.
I spent some time drinking with a straw in front of Lucas...all the time and it seemed to grab his interest because he would reach for it after a while. When I gave it to him he only put his mouth on it and would sometimes chew...so remember how (when we were kids) we would get the liquid stuck in the straw by holding the top with our finger? I did that and then released it into his mouth. He loved it and soon his instinct to suck kicked in and he started to get it.

I did this with my DD just one time when we were out at lunch and she got the hang out it right away!

DD never took to the regular sippy, she never could figure out how to get anything out of it, unless I tipped it back for her. I gave her the straw cup and she figured it out right away.
Still, at 22 months, she only uses the straw cups (or drinks from a regular cup)

ds never wanted to drink from a regular sippy cup so one day I tried a straw cup and he knew what to do right away... he was 11 months then...

DD drinks from a straw nuby cup and had for a few weeks. She is 9 months. I showed her once and she took to it easily. She also took to regular sippy cups easy (we started at 6 months- just water, formula still on the bottle) but seems to drink a lot more water from the straw cup.

dd learned at 6 mths old because I babysit my nephew and he always drinks from a sippy cup with a straw so she would steal his cups

I have done this with Jack also but he still has no clue lol

My mom told me she did this with all of us and it worked. I thought she was nuts, but now I guess not.

DD started with the straw cups at 10.5 months. She got it on her first try. She gets so much more fluid from a straw cup than a regular sippy because she hasn't learned to tip a regular sippy up far enough by herself.

6 months old he drank with no problems. have you trid putting something sweet tasting on the straw to try to et him to suck on it.

We are getting there at 9 months. There is a good trick. Put yogurt (the drinkable one) in a cup with a straw, hold the bottom of the straw, and put the other end in the babies mouth, don't let go of the bottom, then let them suck over and over, eventually they get it and then go from there. Burberry girl taught me this!

DD was able to do it with my water bottle at 6 months because I drink from it all the time in front of her. However, she didn't swallow much of what she was taking in.

8 months old. DS won't drink anything from a bottle except formula. He will only drink from a straw cup. He won't even drink from a sippy cup.

My son was a natural. I gave it to him at 9 months and he took right to it. We no longer use sippy cups, just the straw cups.

Her started at 12 months. I gave him a Munchkin brand straw cup (with one way valve so no spills) and he played with it for a few days and then just got it. Great cup!!!
