WHen did your infant start to wear real clothes every day?
At what point is it no longer acceptable to take baby out wearing a one piece stretchie? My DS is small for his age and for a while if he wore separates the pants would just fall off. Now, some of those pants are too small but I think that the ones that fit could still fall off. He only recently started to be able to keep his socks on but there is no guarantee about that!!!!

Re: WHen did your infant start to wear real clothes every day?
Do you mean the one pieces with the feet? Probably when DS was a couple of months old...I love the outfits with the onsies and shorts/pants. I never had to worry about DS pulling off his socks though.
ETA: Come to think about it...DS probably only had a handful of outfits with the feet. I always put him in 2 pc. outfits or even one piece jumpers but the kind without the feet.
How old is your DS?

Re: WHen did your infant start to wear real clothes every day?
Looking back over the past 7 months of pics of Caden I noticed that I never put him in that type of outfit..so I dont know if Im really a good judge..
But...
While I would never put Caden in that type of outfit..I just dont like them in general (they dont work for me)..I dont think if I saw another child Cadens age in one that I would think its odd...but if I saw a baby Cadens size I would think it's odd...
Oh please tell me this makes some sense...
Its not so much an age issue...it's more of a size issue at some point they start to look silly..at that point you dont put them on them any more..
I hope you KWIM...(it's late and Im tired)

I never take Alex out of the house in her PJs, which is what I consider those to be. I actually find it strange when people don't dress their kids in "day clothes". She has so many adorable outfits, I couldn't imagine keeping her in PJs all day.

same here, my DD goes out in outfits all the time...since she was very little! I think i only took her out in her sleepers for doc. appts cause its easier to take them off and when she wasnt feeling well. but i think its however you feel comfortable dressing them!

I never really did put DD in 1 piece outfits with feeties. I think if she was born in the colder months, I probably would have done this for awhile though.

Re: WHen did your infant start to wear real clothes every day?
DS wears the one piece outfits quite a bit. I never found this strange for a young baby, but apparently some do.
We've started to put two piece outfits on him more often, but the one piece outfits just seem much more comfy, and I find him easier to change. We have a couple from the Gap that look more like outfits and less like pj's, so he wears these a lot.
I was wondering about this though, and thinking in another month or two when it's warmer, I'll probably put him in outfits more often.

Re: WHen did your infant start to wear real clothes every day?
practically from the very beginning i've always put ds in a top and pant (and with an under onsie). i was never crazy abotu the look of onsies. but i would put him in one every once in a while. i must note, the pants in put him in are karate pants (from american apparel.. similar to sweat pants). i find jeans, khakis, etx harder for me to put on and off.

Re: WHen did your infant start to wear real clothes every day?
I only started putting DD in two piece outfits in the last few weeks. Truly the reason I am doing it is b/c she got bigger and I have fewer of the footies than before.

I have always put DC in actual clothes, not sleepers from day 1 anytime we went out anywhere. I'm not a fan of taking kids out in sleepers in general. JMO.

Re: WHen did your infant start to wear real clothes every day?
Now, if we're talking footie sleepers, DD doesn't leave the house in them. But if we're talking a one-piece cotton cute outfit, DD has several of them, and I like them. They're regular clothes, just a one-piece, that's the only difference. I see no problem with those

Re: WHen did your infant start to wear real clothes every day?
When he started daycare at 14 weeks.
I really consider them PJs. There is one kid at his daycare that turned 9 months last week and still wear them.
He usually wear outfits that are comfy though. Not too "stuck up" KWIM!
It's usually Onesie, Jeans/pants, stocks and a long sleeve shirt. Of course, it's matching in color theme.

Re: WHen did your infant start to wear real clothes every day?
Well, some of the outfits I am talking about have the attached feet and some don't. Some are in patterns that look like PJs but he has already stopped wearing those when we go out. On the days my mom babysits, DH is going to put him in a one piece for a while longer. The jeans and khakis look so bulky and uncomfortable and I think that is why I haven't used them much. He does wear fun sweaters and sweatshirts.

Re: WHen did your infant start to wear real clothes every day?
I stopped at about 3 months...he outgrew them so quickly and now I think he would look relaly funny in them...he's just a big boy maybe thats why. But I loved them!
I bought a whole bunch of one-piece outfits for him for the summer though...the short-sleeve shirts with the shorts...they look so comfy!

Re: WHen did your infant start to wear real clothes every day?
I guess I am a freak, because my son (4 months old) lives in sleepers and onesies and I hope to keep him in them as long as possible. For me, they are so much easier than 2 piece outfits. He was born in November, so I feel like he stays warmer in them, I don't have to worry about socks falling off and I find the shirts riding up on him all the time to be so annoying. He mostly wears Carter's one piece outfits - not PJs, the cute outfits that snap up the front.
We are home most of the time since I haven't gone back to work, but when we go out, it is to the doctor, a family member's house or shopping. I am not dressing him to impress - it's purely for function at this point and what is easiest for me to feed and change him in.

Re: WHen did your infant start to wear real clothes every day?
I will let my daughter wear onsies for as long as possible, but I notice the choices are getting limited now that she is so big. Honestly, my 4 yr old son keeps me so busy, I really don't have time to be constantly checking her feet for socks or pulling up her pants. So, although I have put her in two piece outfits or dresses on occasion, its not a daily thing. But that is not to say I don"t dress her in the mornings, I do. I just find one pieces so much easier and comfy for her two. I hate when my dh is holding her and he bunches up her pants or shirt so she is all exposed...so one-pieces do the job.

Re: WHen did your infant start to wear real clothes every day?
my ds has since he was born and he is just three months. I put him in fleece onesie with feet at night and then dress him every morning in his daytime clothes, which could be pants and a shirt over a onesie or a more daytime looking onesie with socks, meaning it doesn't look like pjs but more of an outfit. He is in his day clothes until his bath at 7:30 every night.
