Re: WHen did your infant start to wear real clothes every day?
I think it depends on the fabric. DD had some cute one piece outfits with feet that she wore until she was four months old. Mostly she stopped wearing them out around 2 or 3 months old, though. She was a winter baby so it was easier.
As far as comfortable clothes, DD has worn a lot of knit pants from Carter's, Old Navy and the Gap. Paired with a bodysuit and a cardigan or hooded sweatjacket, they are comfy and cute.

I guess I am a freak, because my son (4 months old) lives in sleepers and onesies and I hope to keep him in them as long as possible. For me, they are so much easier than 2 piece outfits. He was born in November, so I feel like he stays warmer in them, I don't have to worry about socks falling off and I find the shirts riding up on him all the time to be so annoying. He mostly wears Carter's one piece outfits - not PJs, the cute outfits that snap up the front.
We are home most of the time since I haven't gone back to work, but when we go out, it is to the doctor, a family member's house or shopping. I am not dressing him to impress - it's purely for function at this point and what is easiest for me to feed and change him in.
Well, to me you are not a freak. I asked because we are still doing the 1 piece outfits. If you look in my album, I even had Kiddie Kandids pics done in a 1 pc. outfit. It was an outfit without feet, though. He was wearing socks and I had shoes for him but I thought they were bothering him so I took them off. We have so many cute one piece outfits with and without feet. I am having fun with them but I will start to mix in a few other items of clothing now.

Re: WHen did your infant start to wear real clothes every day?
Ive been going through pics of all of my kids and came across some pics of Ariel from 9m-18m...almost every outfit that I have of her she is in some kind of one piece jumpsuit type of thing. They were from Gymboree...I remember how much I used to like them and I thought she looked so cute in them..
I guess some where between then and now my taste in baby clothes has changed...
Honestly from a comfort stand point the one piece outfits are probably a lot more comfortable for babies..I know that if we are spending a day home I never put him in jeans b/c I feel like they confine him....

If there were more choices of bigger onesies with feet, I'd use them more often. I typically will change DS after his first nap (which is 2 hours after he first wakes) out of his footie pjs. If I know we are staying home, I will typically put him in something easy to get on. (ie: long sleeve onesie with sweats) If we are going somewhere (other than walmart or something) I try to find an outfit like jeans and a shirt. But I always have a onesie under his shirt.

I never take Alex out of the house in her PJs, which is what I consider those to be. She has so many adorable outfits, I couldn't imagine keeping her in PJs all day.
same here, my DD goes out in outfits all the time...since she was very little! I think i only took her out in her sleepers for doc. appts cause its easier to take them off and when she wasnt feeling well. but i think its however you feel comfortable dressing them!
ITA with both of these.
And Jessica, she ALWAYS looks so adorable -- AND comfortable!
Everything I dress Alex in is for comfort - hers. Once in a while I dress her in an outfit because it is adorable but even then I make sure it is comfy for her - I hate buttons up the back, or necklines that are too tight, or headbands.

I never take Alex out of the house in her PJs, which is what I consider those to be. I actually find it strange when people don't dress their kids in "day clothes". She has so many adorable outfits, I couldn't imagine keeping her in PJs all day.
Couldn't agree more!
I agree as well! DS never left the house in his PJs unless we were running an errand VERY early and I couldn't get my act together to dress him.

Re: WHen did your infant start to wear real clothes every day?
I will sometimes leave the house with her in a 2 piece pj outfit, but that was when she stayed in her infant seat and nobody saw what she was wearing anyway. It was just easier. As for the one piece footsies....that is all she wears when we are at home alone...they keep her warm and comfy and she is 9 months and I think she looks adorable in them! (longest run-on sentence ever LOL)

Re: WHen did your infant start to wear real clothes every day?
I have a lot of really nice one piece outfits that I love! They are certainly not pjs! I love how easy it is to slide them in and change them! Also, I don't have to deal with shoes and socks!
Do whatever you feel comfortable with! He is your child!

yup DS also wears the one piece footsies at home too (as well as carter's cottons pants and bodysuits) b/c he's so comfy in them. When we go out, i do dress him in jeans or cords and a shirt or bodysuit though. I stopped the onsies with feet (not the PJ's ones, the cotton every day ones) when we go out at around 6 months. Hes so big now (9 months but size 12 months) they dont even make them in his size anymore. However, i love one piece rompers in the spring and summer and just bought some cute ones from carters for him
