When do you find out your kids teachers? Update
We used to find out on the last day of school but this year they changed it to my dismay (but many others were excited). I think admin was tired of getting complaints.
We should be finding out either this week or next.
Update - so we got one letter on Friday and one on Saturday. They supposedly mailed them all together and the post office didn’t deliver all the same day. I still have a friend waiting for a letter for her younger daughter and the school won’t tell her who her teacher is.

End of August some time.
I never got the complaining.
To me, how bad can any one teacher really be?
And you know what? Sometimes that's life....you get a bad teacher, you get a bad boss, etc. I think its good to teach kids that in real life, you don't always get what you want, but you have to deal with it sometimes

My kids used to find out the last week of August. My own students don’t find out until the first day of school (NYC)... I think that’s better honestly. No time for parents to complain

I think that’s honestly why they moved ours 
Was curious if most schools waited until August now or still told on the last day.

I'm pretty sure the Friday before Labor Day weekend at 4. LOL!
Same reason as others. No time for parents to complain. I never have a problem with it.

Yes!!! I agree with this.
One mother in DS grade on the last day of school was going on and on about how if her DD doesn't stay with her friends and has a certain teacher she would be heartbroken and have a miserable summer She even said how she couldn't sleep last night because she wanted her DD to be happy on the last day.
I literally turned around and was like 'life sucks sometimes, if we don't teach our kids now that it sucks, they will be in for a rude awakening when they get older and 'we' can't do anything about it. They need to learn.' I was PMSing bad that day

Usually the week before school starts.
We are moving upstate and kids know who they have when they get their report cards.

Same here. So many people were saying how upset their kids will be!
I would prefer certain teachers for my kids based on what I’ve heard but I’m not going to be devastated if that doesn’t happen. And my older DS just needs one good friend in his class to be happy (which will happen).

When do you find out your kids teachers?
My kids go to Catholic school, my 2 DS's (2nd & K), know their teachers by default because there is only one class per grade. There are 2 PreK classes though, and last year when my younger DS was entering Pre-K, we didn't find out until the day we came for parent orientation the day before the first day of school. Parent gossip was that the principal does it that way because one PreK teacher is much preferred over the other, and nearly every parent tries to get their child into this particular class. My DS got the "coveted" teacher, but I wouldn't have complained if he got the other. It's Prek. How bad can a teacher of 4 year olds be?

The Parent Portal states will ‘reopen the week of August 27th’ - which translates to ... they open it back up ON August 27th at approximately 4pm.... LOL
You should see the talk all day long on the town mom’s FB page desperately waiting. After the 500 posts of ‘it’s up’ the board goes silent on the issue. I find it so amusing every year. Haha

Probably the 24th for us, maybe earlier in the week. The following week is "visit the school" so they have to put them on the portal before that. I get their reasoning for waiting. BUT, people will still call to complain and get their child's teacher changed. I know a woman who was upset that most of her daughter's friends were in another class, so she called to get her teacher switched. Ridiculous that they even entertain that!

I agree! I'm actually looking forward to hopefully less classes with the same ol' friends for my daughter this year (middle school). Kids need to branch out, and not keep all of their eggs in one basket! This woman is basically an adult bully though, and everyone is scared of her, so they just give her what she wants

They only time I have ever complained (internally) is when my son didn't get the strict teacher. That boy needs structure

I'm the same. I have no idea who any of the teachers are because DD is my only child so I don't have an older child who went ahead of her to know who is who.
I'm just glad when she's back in school.
Give me any damn teacher you got!
