When do you take them to the ped for a cough?
Jack has had a cough for about two weeks now. He coughs anywhere from 5-10 times a day - it's not a constant thing.
No cold. No fever. Acting completely normal.
Would you take him to the ped? I know coughs last a long time but I want to be sure I'm not being neglectful either.
And, it's not that croup type barking cough - it's just a regular cough
I really don't want to take him there with all of the swine flu cases going around!

Re: When do you take them to the ped for a cough?
if it is only 5-10 times a day i would either wait for the next well visit if it is soon or call the ped and just ask if they want to see him.... several times i called and they would tell me not to bring him in and would tell me when they would want to see him

Did it correspond with the heat being used regularly? I would think maybe it was something like that...
And I didn't see or hear him cough last week

Re: When do you take them to the ped for a cough?
Did he have bronchiolitis (sp?) when he was a baby?
Caden gets the same thing when the weather starts to change...
He coughs a bit in the morning..then is fine most of the day except for a cough here and there..
I forget what the ped told me but its kind of allergy"ish" and has/had something to do with the bronchiolitis he got as an infant...

ITA! I'd wait it out unless more symptoms start showing up.

Di, I called for Frankie's cough last week & they told me just to use Benadryl at night.

He had RSV once when he was about 15 months or so but that's it.

Re: When do you take them to the ped for a cough?
I would just use a humidifier at night. It may be the dry air from heat that is irritating him. I get like that sometimes.

I have been using it, and of course I forgot to put it on tonight!
