Re: when invited to a shower (bridal or baby)

For bridal showers, I do a registry 9 out of 10 times. I like to add a more personal non-registry gift on top of it for close friends/family. The 1 out of 10 times is because everything left in my price point is gone.

It's the opposite for baby showers. I might get a couple registry items to accompany my gift, but I like to give clothes, books and toys. Especially books and toys that were a hit with my DD. I feel dumb getting them a package of nipples and a diaper genie and the big items are usually out of my budget.

sometimes I get a little something extra and put it in a wishing well, thats usually not on the registry.

People still do wishing wells? I know my poor grandmother brought me some wishing well gifts for my shower and was shocked I didn't have one lol I've been to like 4 showers over the past year and a half, both baby and wedding and haven't seen one!

Re: when invited to a shower (bridal or baby)

Im a registry shopper as well. A lot of things that people bought me because they thought I needed my mom had already purchased so I ended up exchanging... I will however add some things to a gift- maybe something personalized for a bridal shower or a cute outfit for a baby shower but thats only in addition to the present...

I am a registry shopper, it is easier that way. I go off registry for wishing wells & the wishing well gift will go along with the main gift.

I like to get the main gift from the registry and then I always like to give something that I think they would like that they didn't register for. So there's a little bit of a surprise!

Always the registry, and then a few little extras not on it.

Same. I always get from the registry. That is what they are requesting so why not.

Re: when invited to a shower (bridal or baby)

registry only. that way i know they want and like the gift and it won't sit in a closet collecting dust.

my new thing is i get a basket and load it with all the small items (the ones no one buys). everyone always wants to buy the big things and gets upset when the "good stuff" is gone. but i think the little stuff is just as important.

I am registry shopper all the way.. I know how much time and effort it takes to put that registry together.. Much thought and time must be put into it.. I like to buy the person what they feel they really need.. If everyone didnt buy off the registry what would be the point of the person putting in all that time and effort to register.. Personally I really hope everyone i inivite goes to my registry it really is all I need..

I always try to buy off the registry. I feel like they registered for a reason- they need that stuff. Sometimes I will add in something non-registry related, but I try to always get my main gift off the registry.
