When it came time for Dh to propose..
Did you gently, urge, encourage or threaten? or did you stay out of it completely?
I hinted quite a bit 
But he actually proposed earlier than i thougth he would

It was all him! We discussed getting married of course but the timeline was all him. I never needed to hint or anything about getting engaged.

he wasn't planning on asking when he did- but do to some unfortunate circumstanes he moved up his plans- it was very sweet

Threatened, broke up with him & said if he changed his mind & I wasn't with anyone, maybe we'd get back together. He called 2 weeks later.
In my mind he had a New Year's Day deadline (he didn't know the deadline). I was going to break up with him for good.
He told his parents we were getting engaged on Thanksgiving, talked to my dad on Christmas and proposed the day before New Year's Eve.

We always talked about getting married... he said we would get engaged after I graduated from College (which was december 2002), so in the summer of 2002 we started looking at rings. I was expecting it to happen after I graduated, so when he proposed in Sept I was totoally suprised!!!!

but when he actually did propose, it was totally out of left field. he blindsided me  which is no easy task!

That was basically our story. We were supposed tog radaute in may (altough i didn't end up graduating until 2 years later) and he proposed in January!

he actually proposed to me (with a little gold ring he got me) 2 months after we started dating...i had to wait another 5 years to get the real deal until we were both finished with college. i knew as soon as he had a job he'd be proposing pretty quickly. He started in feb and proposed in april!

2nd. he was at my house, asked my dad...talked to my mom. everyone knew but me. the night he picked me up to take me out to "the dinner" everyone was acting bizarre. my dad was telling me how beautiful i looked...my mom asked me if i got my nails done....totally crazy! and when we got home they were all there with champagne! friends, family...you name it!
Actually one night, FIL got really drunk and told me how happy they were I'd come into their family: "My son is going to marry you!" We weren't even engaged but I thought it was so cute. The actual proposal came much sooner that I thought, though.

i didn't urge, encourage, or threaten. He casually said why don't we just see what kind of ring you like, so we started looking...
The actual weekend was a surprise but when a limo picked us up to take us to stay at the Ritz Carlton in NYC I thought it was coming...And it was!
