Re: When people mispell or mispronounce your name
yep. I get "Lana" with a long "A" a lot. It sounds so weird. Or, when I was in Richmond Ballet, I got my name with a little twang that used to be annoying, too!
I'm named after Lana Turner, so if I say that, then people usually say it right!

ME: It's Farah THEM: Sarah ME: No, Farah, with an F THEM: Oh, Saraf
W T F??????????
One time I told someone my name and then spelled it for them - Farah, F-A-R-A-H
A few minutes later I got a fax addressed to Sarah Farah
You can't even spell it for people - for some reason they don't understand "F as in Frank"
I usually have to resort to "Like Farrah Fawcett" Sooooo cheesy and then follow the "Were you named after her?" questions
For some reason people here call me FAR-rah...drives me nuts, but they don't understand the subtle difference of pronounciation...

My maiden name is terrrrrrrrible- long and french.
Married last name is very irish, and often mispronounced. I've heard Mickey, McGee, McGoo, Mackey, etc.
Tell me about it!

Re: When people mispell or mispronounce your name
It never really bothered me, people used to misprounouce my maiden name all the time. My married name is simple but people mess it up. It bothers me because my boss constantly messes it no matter how many times I tell him and it is disrespectful at this point.

Re: When people mispell or mispronounce your name
Yes - I can say I somtimes get frustrated. Depends on the situation. When someone that has known me for years - whether it be a friend or a family member - you should know by now my name is spelled Marcie - not Marcy
Also, now that I am married, everyone thinks my last name is my first name

Re: When people mispell or mispronounce your name
I correct them usually and don't mind, b/c I have an unusual spelling for my first name & a ridiculously long last name. After that if they get it wrong I get a little

I always get Stefanie, sometimes Stefany. Until we 'met' on board I never saw anyone spell it with an "f"....I was always like who the heck spells it that way.

Emily seems easy enough but ummm I get called Amy, Eve, Evelyn, Molly....I don't understand why its difficult but it just is. Half of my accounts call me Amy and after 4 years I am tired of correcting them so I just go with it.

Oh, I get that all the time too! Someone I work with used to always send memos to "Traci". I really wanted to remind her that "Traci" is a porn star name but "Tracy" is not.
ETA- You may be the only other Tracy I know of who is c-y and not e-y. The few I know/knew were e-y.

Re: When people mispell or mispronounce your name
I ALWAYS politely correct it - because of my job, my name gets around a lot, and I always want to make sure its correct.
also, I used to respond to the mispronounced name, and when the one who got my name wrong found out what my name erally was, they would always ask me why I didnt correct them....

Re: When people mispell or mispronounce your name
It does happen to me alot but I'm so used to it. People say Sondra or Saundra instead Sandra (like the "a" in apple). If people ask, I tell them which way to pronounce it, otherwise I don't really correct them although my DH thinks I should. But it's funny because sometimes the same people who call me Sondra, will also call me Sandy...which I don't mind but if you can pronounce Sandy correctly, why not Sandra?

Sometimes. Sometimes people spell Suzy, like Susie, susi, Suzie. And my new last name has an approstrophe (sp?) in it and it almost always gets misspelled, or the ' is left out.
