I'd make calls by around 24 weeks -- it may take a while to get appointments.

I just started gathering a list today of pediatricians in my plan associated with the hospital today (19 weeks). I'll research a little bit, then contact them.

I started this last week (26 weeks) and was able to get a few appts pretty quickly. Most of the pediatricians I spoke to had time set aside for parents and interviews. We already have one set.

I started calling them around 30 weeks, though if you can do it earlier, that's probably a good idea.

Whatever concerns you.
Personally I did the interviews more to determine who made me feel at ease/confident than for their medical philosophies. The pediatrician is going to be your psychologist as well, so you need someone that you feel comfortable talking to!

When I went to my Dr's appt 3 weeks ago they told me to start thinking about it. I was 26 weeks then.

I am going to start doing this once we get back from Thanksgiving. I waited because I was not sure what insurance plan we were going to go with for 2008 and wanted to make sure I interviewed doctors in the plan we were going with.

same here. It was important that the practice shared my parenting philosophies and did not push anything on us. They don't push antibiotics first and try to go homepathic routes. I had a list of questions I got from my internet search and BTDT friends. All of which was important the Dr. met with you personally for the interview and not their management staff and answered all your questions along with their literature explained to us. i couldn't be happier with my choice.
