When starting jarred food...
How much do you give of a Stage 1 jar? The whole thing? Half? Once a day? Twice? Fruit in the morning, veggie at night?

Re: When starting jarred food...
There is no rule for it...give how much DC wants...the only thing I stuck to was the first time you give something, give it between 3-5 days to make sure there is no reaction....
But once I had introduced everything I gave fruit in the morning and veggies at night, but I am weird like that

Re: When starting jarred food...
I started with half a jar of fruit with cereal in the morning and then half a jar of veggie at night with cereal (not mixed)
Now I give Nina, half a jar of veggie and cereal in the AM. Half a jar of veggie in the afternoon for lunch. And half a jar of veggie and cereal for dinner.

Re: When starting jarred food...
We did cereal once a day, increased to twice a day, then added veggies in the afternoon with cereal. Some days he would eat a whole jar of stage 1, others less. Then once we had tried enough veggies, I added fruits in the morning.

Re: When starting jarred food...
My only advice is start with green veggies first (peas, green beans, spinach) because once they taste the sweetness of fruit or veggies (carrots, sweet pot) they have a hard time eating the greens.
I used to give 1/2 of the stage one jar at first. Then slowly I built up. I wasn't that concerned with the amount of food they were eating because they were still taking in formula.

Re: When starting jarred food...
We gave him half a jar starting out, but that's all he ate. In time it was a whole jar, then two, which is when we switched to stage 2. If DC wants more than half a jar, that's fine.
Yeah, our doctor told us we could do veggies or fruit next, it really doesn't matter. When you think about it, it shoudln't, because sooner or later they will have fruit, so if that stopped them from eating veggies, it would stop them then also.

Re: When starting jarred food...
I started with 1/2 a jar but in no time we were up to a full Stage 1 jar. He usually gets fruit in the morning and then a veggie and some fruit later in the evening.

Re: When starting jarred food...
Jessee, we started with half a stage 1 jar of fruit and 2 tbsp of cereal twice a day. Occasionally I gave her the whole jar when she wanted it. Now I'll give her a whole stage 1 jar or half a stage 2 jar.

I agree, but my DS will eat ANYTHING!
We started with 1/2 jar, 1x a day. Then after about 2 weeks we did 1/2 a jar 2x per day, then at lunch he got 1 jar and at dinner 1/2 a jar. Just follow your babies cues. Start with 1/2 and after a week (when you know there is no reactions) if he wants more try more...If he spits up alot or has a reaction, cut back...Its alot of trial and error.

We started with 1/2 in the morning and 1/2 at night. When we started veggies I did half fruit in the morning and half a veggie at night.
