When to switch to fast flow nipple?

How do I know when DD is ready to go to a fast flow nipple? She's 4 months old today and she's still on the slow flow. She drinks her 7 oz bottle down in 5 minutes flat. I'm a little afraid to give her the faster nipple because I already think she drinks too fast. What do you look for before you make the switch?

if anything i would switch to the medium flow first. DS is 1 year and i never moved him to the fast flow. but you can tell they're done with the slow nipple if they suck so hard it inverts the nipple.

I never went to a fast flow. Around 4-5 months my DD was getting frustrated with the slow flow so we switched her to a medium flow nipple and she stuck with that until we dropped the bottles at 17 months.

Re: When to switch to fast flow nipple?

We use playtex drop-ins so our only options are slow or fast. It sounds like it's probably okay to stick with the slow ones if she's not complaining.

DS is almost 9 months old, and still doesn't take the fast flow all the time. I started intruducing it at 4 months and he would just spit out most of it. Tried again at 6 months...same thing. It wasn't till about 7 months that he was able to actually drink it without most of it coming out of his mouth lol. But when he's sleepy, he still refuses the fast flow ones.

My DD is 4 months and we switched her to medium flow at around 3 months.

Check Target - I was able to find medium flow nipples for the playtex drop ins there.

i knew to switch when it was taking her 30-40 to drink 4 oz and sucking hard. I use dr. browns and they have 3 levels. right now we are at level 2 and its fine. I switched her around 3 months but b/c it would take forever.
