When will I stop feeling weepy?

I know its only been about a week since I had DC, but I am crying all the time. DH asks if its happy or sad tears and I dont even know half the time. I cry when I look at her bc she's so cute and then I cry when she wont stop crying, etc...

How long does this stage last and how do I determine if its baby blues or PPD?

Thanks!

Re: When will I stop feeling weepy?

It lasted for me around 2-3 weeks. I cried at the drop of a hat, I was crying ALL the time. That was the worst feeling but then one day it was like a cloud lifted

I think for me it has gotten better in the last couple of days (DD is almost 5 weeks). Don't worry, it will get better! Chat Icon

Re: When will I stop feeling weepy?

I was sooo emotional and cried at anything. Again, like the other girls said it does go away. Give it a few weeks and let your body adjust.

I'm going to say 10 weeks for me with the tears. They weren't as bad or as often as when I first had her though

Re: When will I stop feeling weepy?

Several weeks...don't worry, you are not alone Chat Icon It's completely natural. I still get weepy sometimes when I look at DD, just taking it all in. But the crazy hormonal crying lasted a few weeks.

Re: When will I stop feeling weepy?

It's totally normal baby blues. I seriously never cry and I bawled my eyes out for a few weeks after having each DS. It will lift!

Re: When will I stop feeling weepy?

It ended for me at about 10-12 days. I made sure to do a few things. It may sound silly because the are so basic.

1) Shower every day
2) Go out for a walk every day with or without DC
3) Eat healthy and hearty.
4) Drink lots of water.
5) Spend a least 30 minutes a day by yourself doing something for yourself.

Pretty much for me too. I remember speaking to my Ob about it at my 6 week appt. I think it was post-partum depression but I wouldn't let him prescribe me anything b/c I would have had to stop BFing. I just cried my way through it!

Re: When will I stop feeling weepy?

The first week I would cry whenever I had a lot of people over. Once they left I would break down because I felt overwhelmed and that I had to share DD too much. I got weepy from time to time for the next week or two. Chat Icon

Re: When will I stop feeling weepy?

Sounds like baby blues and it's totally normal. I went through the same thing for the first 3 weeks and the girls on here were invaluable to me during that time. I literally felt like someone had died when I should have felt happy. Your hormones and emotions are all out of whack but they should start to even out in a couple of weeks. If you don't feel better soon, maybe talk to your doctor to rule out PPD. We're here for you! Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon

Re: When will I stop feeling weepy?

Mine lasted about six weeks. A lot had to do with being alone in the house, having breastfeeding problems and it being winter.

Re: When will I stop feeling weepy?

I think it was around week 7 that the crying stopped (of course I can still bring on the water works when it comes to DS - but it's different now).

I think a lot of it has to do with emotions and just overwhelming fatigue and self-doubt. Over time that washes away and the crying calms down.

If at any point you feel that it isn't getting better...talk to your doctor. Chat Icon But know that what you are feeling is very normal...as you can see from all of these responses. Chat Icon
