When you fly with a toddler...12 months +
Do you buy them a seat or just keep them on your lap?
How was your experience flying with DC?
Thanks

hey Jodi...Hows Hannah feeling? I definitely DID NOT buy her a seat. If there is seats open they will give you one anyhow. Gillian has travelled four times and has been an angel. You will be fine!

I usually did not buy a seat at that age, I think a few times I did for longer flights. Generally we fly to and from NY-GA. so at that age she sat on either my lap or DH.

Hey Paulette!! Hannah is hanging in there. The new meds are hurting her tummy Unfortunately we are not flying anywhere....I'm asking for a friend!!!
I can NOT even begin to think I'm organized enough to get on a plane with Hannah and all her stuff We won't fly until she's in middle school!!!

Re: When you fly with a toddler...12 months +
I flew with Emily to FL this past summer when she was about 22 months. We got her a seat and brought her carseat, since we were going to be bringing it for the rental car anyway.
I am happy with our decision to get her her own seat and bring the car seat. She would not have sat still if she was on our lap, IMO. I guess it just depends on the child though.
One thing is that it was a PITA carrying the carseat through the airport, hooking it up in the plane, and then the rental car, but it still gave me peace of mind to know that we had our own seat with us.

We always buy seats for our children. We feel the flight is more pleasant for everyone if the kids have their own space. I am not a good flyer, so it's imperative that I be comfortable. Maybe I'd feel differently if I wasn't so prone to airsickness.

I have flown with Talia a lot...I never bought a seat until I had to. She is the type to sit in our laps anyway. I don't think it pays to buy a seat. (I didn't even buy an extra seat when I flew with her alone!)

We always get a seat. It's much safer having them in their car seat on the plane. Several trips, there were no empty seats, so we couldn't have gotten an "extra" seat. We would be a nervous wreck trying to hope we would get a free seat.
Plus, if you have a paying passenger, you get their allotment of carry-on and checked baggage. Very handy with an infant/toddler.

Depends on the flight. To Israel we always buy Alex her own seat, but then again, we're talking about a 12 hour flight. To Florida, no, we never bought her a seat, and thankfully, everytime we took her to FL there were always extra seats so it all worked out for the best anyway.
