Re: When you get home do you take off your shoes?

I'm on the second floor of a co-op. I am not required to have carpeting, but I do in the LR, den and DR. I don't want to hear my downstairs nasty neighbor. My hallways and MBR are hardwood with area rugs.
I go up the uncarpeted stairs and straight into my bedroom to take off my shoes and change into comfy clothes.
DH takes his work shoes off downstairs, other shoes he goes straight into the bedroom and takes them off there.

If we come home late at night and I'm wearing heels, I do take them off downstairs to be considerate, which the witch below me doesn't appreciate.

Immediately. I leave them by the door. The boys always do the same. I don't want dirt tracked in.. my house is filthy enough without adding to the problem!!Chat Icon

I only take off my shoes if they are wet or muddy, and then I go put on another pair. I have flat feet, and plantar fascitis, so I'm not supposed to walk around barefoot or in socks.

I don't have flat feet, but I also can't be barefoot if I am standng too much ( like in the ktichen), so I switch to thick flip flops usually.

On the weekends though, when I am in & out a lot I keep them on. DH always has shoes on, untill after dinner.

Re: When you get home do you take off your shoes?

Even when I lived in Queens once we got new carpeting in the apartment (in Queens we had wall-to-wall and now in Lynbrook we have area rugs with hardwood floors) we've always taken off our shoes. DH is heavy footed (takes after my FIL..lol) so he always "stomps" around the apartment - I think it's a good thing that in the old place nobody cared or the wall-to-wall carpet helped there but now we got the management office right under us! They haven't complained since they're only there 9-5, Mon-Fri but still I'm trying to break that habit.

Re: When you get home do you take off your shoes?

I live on the second floor and we have all carpet. I kick my shoes off the minutes I get to the top of the stairs. I HATE wearing shoes around my house. Never do.

Re: When you get home do you take off your shoes?

My shoes come off, not because of anyone living under me but because I refuse to allow outside shoes be worn in my clean house. The ground is dirty, muddy, just gross. I don't need that being tracked all over my floor.

It is a rule, when you enter my house you, you take off your shoes. Chat Icon

And I always assume it is a rule in any house I enter.

Shoes off the second we step foot inside the house....the germs/filth on the bottom of shoes disgust me. It hit me when my first daughter was born and I thought about her crawling on the dirty floor and then putting her hands in her mouth Chat Icon

Re: When you get home do you take off your shoes?

I used to take my shoes off. I wish I still good.

I have a bad ankle from running. It needs to be supported at all times so I have to wear sneakers around the house (I can't even wear slippers or flip flops). I hate it Chat Icon
