when your baby starts to learn to move (crawl)

How often do you put them down on their bellies so they can learn more? I feel like I am not doign it enough, but Sasha just likes to sit up and play. Thoughts?

I wouldn't worry, she'll just do it when she's ready. I hardly ever did tummy time with Shane, or really any kind of movement encouragement. He just started cruising on his own and then crawling after that.

Samantha's been crawling for a while now. Well, really army crawling, she's just now starting to rock on her knees.

But I was putting her on her belly everytime I put her down to play. But then I decided I wanted her to figure out how to get from sitting to belly, I would put her down on her tush. Now she prefers to be on her belly as she is ALL over the place.

Same for Mady. Jonah kinda does it weird - puts his head down first and then does his army crawling. But he did it on his own from sitting.

DD#1 crawled at 6.5 almost 7 months. DD#2 is 6 months - she is going backwards and starting to go forwards but I think she isn't quite ready yet - she is practicing pulling up and standing now.

Honestly they all do it in their own time and some kids skip crawling altogether. I would just put her on her tummy as much as she is willing to do and put toys out of reach so she has to move to get them. That worked for both my girls.

Ava was on her belly any chance we could get. I just felt it was good for her overall. She also slept on her belly. She crawled at 5 monthsChat Icon

Re: when your baby starts to learn to move (crawl)

hmm... I wonder if what Sasha is doing is not really considered an advancement.

She only moves when I put her down on her belly. She has mastered a 360º/180º spin-- and then pushes herself back a bit. She gets frustrated I think when she wants to go fwd, or literally backs herself into a corner and can't move anymore.

If I sit her up-- she'll stay there and just bang some shite together.
