When your hard drive comes crashing down
Ugh. We lost so much stuff. Hard lesson to learn. I kept pushing off getting an external hard drive. 
Now I can't get my ipod to work.

UG! That is the worst feeling, I try to back up every few weeks, if I lost all my pictures I'd be devastated! Thanks for the reminder to back up! So sorry you lost your 'stuff'

ugh that sucks i'm sorry that happened. but just so you know external hard drives aren't fool proof either. that's what we backed up on and guess what? when our hard drive crashed our external also did! what are the chances? i now save important docs on a usb stick and make sure i print out photos.

It happened to me at work and it was too late. We lost EVERYTHING. We lost over 20 narrative reports which are a minimum of 60 pages. Trust me, I know the feeling lol
Your best bet is to save to a cd/dvr. Good luck!

that's why DH and I back-up on 2 externals....
are you absolutely certain it's completely dead? maybe you can tease the info out somehow?
