Where are you with social distancing?
So I feel torn. While we have been social distancing I feel like we are in the grey area. No one has been in our home, only been outside with friends and family in smaller groups and no contact.
Now I am seeing a lot more people either not seeing anyone at all still, or they just let their guard fully down and having get-togethers.
I have been invited out a few times recently for backyard parties with the kids and I hate responding No. One family we are ok with bc we can keep our distance and the kids have been good. Now we are getting invited to gatherings with a few families.
Are you ok with this or still social distancing? Asking bc I feel like our closest friends are like us so we've mostly hung with them, but then feel bad seeing them and not others who let many people over. So torn

Where are you with social distancing?
We have really let our guard down. From March 13th- through app May 15th, we 100% followed the rules. But as numbers dropped and the state began to reopen, we started to do more. My 9 yr old has been to a friends house to swim several times. We had two other families over Memorial Day weekend for a BBQ. We have seen grandparents, aunts/uncles, & cousins. The one thing we haven't done yet is see school friends. I am not sure how strict those families have been, right now we are sticking to people who we know have been following the rules. However, my boys start camp on June 29th, so at that point we won't have control over who they are spending time with. If infection rates start to tick up, I will reevaluate my choices. For now, we are comfortable with what we are doing. There is no right or wrong, you do what you feel is best for your family.

Re: Where are you with social distancing?
About two week ago my friend came over my house. That’s when I stopped social distancing all together with anyone I know who is comfortable with it. Last Saturday I went with her and a few friends to get coffee. We sat outside for two hours talking and it was so nice to feel some normalcy. My son has plans to go over his friends house this week and we are going to the park to have a picnic with some of other friends this weekend. We also booked our first trip for end of June. We also went to the beach a twice around MDW.
My family and I wear masks in stores and restaurants as required.
Before that I was only seeing my sister and nieces which started in April, and visited my uncle in Queens once on Mother’s Day!
They also lifted the stay at home order in NJ. So it’s all about what you are comfortable with!
ETA: illegally Ive been getting my hair done at my house since May and last week I got a Mani/Pedi at the owners house.
Also wanted to add my DH has been fortunate and worked out of the house the whole time. So there was no way for the entire family to bunker down anyway.

Re: Where are you with social distancing?
There is really no choice for me.
My household: Myself-non-essential working from home. Majority of the 12 weeks only going out once a week food shopping. Has not gotten sick. Hubby-essential, worked the entire time. Has not gotten sick. Child-not working, has been hanging out with friends from the beginning of all of this. Has not gotten sick. Child-not working, rarely gets out, has a compromised immune system as per the doctors so goes out with caution, just a few times away from people. Few people have come into the home, none of them ever sick. Worried in the beginning, not anymore. Planning to see friends this weekend as it is time. Most of them are essential workers who have not gotten sick either.

Where are you with social distancing?
I have only been to the store for necessary trips and I had to go into work twice in the last week to clean my classroom. My DH and DS are getting a haircut today. First time my DS has been out since March.
I want to see our families, but they live far away. I am going to try to meet up with them half way at a park.
I want to go to my sister's, but I am pretty sure she will not allow us to stay with her even though we have been following social distancing.

Where are you with social distancing?
We've only seen immediate family and stayed outside the whole time. We've started allowing a hug goodbye at the end of visits. Aside from grocery shopping every other week I've gone in a store 3 times since the start.

Where are you with social distancing?
Still haven’t been out. Yesterday I took my kids to their car parade for pre school. Still haven’t been to stores, outdoor areas or seen family/ friends. I am the only one that leaves the house and it’s to go to work. My mom and dad let their guard down mid May and we’re pretty angry we wouldn’t let them over. They both got covid and my mom was in the hospital over Memorial Day weekend so... still a hard no for me for now. I know most people are doing to go out and return to somewhat normalcy so after that happens then I’ll let my guard down a bit

Re: Where are you with social distancing?
Mid May DD started seeing 2 friends- pretty much always outside but they really didn't stay apart.
Mother's Day we had family over outside only and a short visit with a lot of separation. After that, we saw family every weekend as we used to. We aren't hugging or hanging on each other, but other than that it's business as usual
DD has been around and slept over her cousins house starting in late may as well. She sees them all the time now.
Before mid May we really hadn't seen anyone at all.
Saturday night we are going out to dinner at a restaurant and I've never been so excited. lol
DD has a dentist appt this week that they finally rescheduled for us and DH has seen his doctor for a well visit and his dentist for a cleaning this week as well. He's also gotten 2 hair cuts since Mid may- but he goes to someone's home for that.
I got an email that a local art studio will be doing in person camps this summer and will probably sign DD up for one - they are short and only go for like a week but it's something to get her out of the house.
We are going on at least one trip in August- trying to find something to do in July as well.

Re: Where are you with social distancing?
We have let our guard down somewhat. We have been back to the island a few times and we've seen friends and family, sometimes 6 ft apart but not always. We've been in their houses too. Whatever at this point. I am just kind of over it all.
I actually find social distancing incredibly difficult. Humans are social creatures who crave human contact, it's not natural to stay away from everyone. It feels very strange and uncomfortable to socially distance, I don't like it. I also feel like I have to really think about keeping my distance because my instinct is to just go up to people to talk, hug them or even shake their hand.
I really hate this isolating world we're living in, it won't EVER feel normal to stay away from people (especially family) and wear masks in our every day life. I hope ALL of these restrictions end soon, I do not like living like this. I just want to hug people, socialize and not breathe through fabric.

I feel the same way. And a lot of my anxiety in the beginning was that we were going to become this sterile, cold world where we don’t hug or interact in anyway. Feeling like a robot. I know not everyone is a hugger or hand shaker but that’s how we grew up in my family. I’m with you I don’t like it!

It feels VERY sterile and cold right now. I feel like every day I am moving through a bad post apocalyptic, sci-fi movie. I just hate all of this.

Where are you with social distancing?
We’ve seen our immediate families-parents, siblings, nieces and nephews with no distancing after being in full isolation for over two months (not even going to stores-truly isolated).
We have started going to stores at a minimum-home Depot for some home stuff, and two trips to Trader Joe’s. I still wear n95 masks, gloves, and sanitize everything.
We’ve been invited to a slew of play dates/parties/get togethers, but I don’t feel comfortable with that yet.
That being said, I have a hair and nail appointment for the beginning of July, so I’m thinking by then I will let my kids play with friends outside, one friend at a time-no groups.

I am a HUGE hugger, and I have completely re-evaluated being like that. I hug immediate family, but I can’t see going back to my level of physical proximity/touch with even friends for a very long time.

Yes. I feel that you end up being rude with social distancing. Everyone is avoiding people and it just seems rude to me. It's not natural to me.

Re: Where are you with social distancing?
i guess i am no longer social distancing
in stores I abide by the rules
My DD has been on 3 play dates with 3 different kids.
One was over my house and they were hanging out we also went fishing with them
2 of them my DD went to their house and played inside and out and even in a pool!!!
(My poor DS doesn't really have anyone to have play dates with and he is also scared to stay anywhere without me he is a very immature 6yo)
we have been to my parents my kids have slept there! they both have antiboides since we are 99% sure they had it. I know anitbodies may not mean they cant get again but we cant be apart forever so we are ok. I still food shop for my parents and they are being cautious still esp. my mom she has not gone to many stores at all
i am planning on going out to eat with friends soon and I am going to 1st birthday party for my BFF DD at her aunts house.
at this point I am not sure why we should still be social distancing. numbers are low and its not going to go away anytime soon!!
ETA: my kids have gone to DR appointments. my DS is at the barber now getting a hair cut and they have eye appointments on Saturday!

Where are you with social distancing?
We followed 100% until the middle of May. Now we see family (no kissing or hugging) and my kids have had some playdates. We still are going to stores though as little as possible and wear masks. I don't think we'll be doing any larger gatherings (more than 10 people) any time soon though.

Re: Where are you with social distancing?
We have still kept our distance when around neighbors, no masks. My dad is coming over later for the first we started. My in-laws are still too scared, we have still been buying food for them.
We are actually thinking of having some friends over soon to come in the pool.

Where are you with social distancing?
We are still pretty strict. I have not been shopping in person since mid-March. Same with my DH. I'm pregnant and my DH has health anxiety. We both work from home. I have only been to my OB appointments. First time I went out recently was the to the bank to get something notarized. Surrogate's court is starting to review cases again so I will probably finish up dealing with my mom's estate. I was in the middle of filing paperwork right when this first started. We have been seeing my in-laws. They will come over and we stay outside. It's been a big boost for my son, and us too, to see them. Otherwise, we have not had any contact with anyone.

Re: Where are you with social distancing?
We are super strict until about a week ago when we allowed each child to have a bike riding play date with one friend. I have not been social with my friends and have only gone to the store about every 2 weeks.
The problem now that I allowed one play date the kids are asking when they can see their friends again. I may allow a once weekly out of the home playdate over the summer.
We have a pool but I am not sure I would allow other kids to swim in it with my two. My son seems to spend his time sneezing and blowing pool water out of pool noodles which is probably not the best practice right now!!

Where are you with social distancing?
We have followed very strictly til a few weeks ago. We don’t go to the stores, have everything delivered. In May we started having outdoor social distance visits with our daughter and grandkids. Recently, we started seeing just them in our house, as we all follow similar social distancing. They are the only ones we see up close. We do go to outside walks at the beach and parks, keeping our distance. Still haven’t seen my sons as they both live out of NY. Haven’t seen my Mom since January as she lives 11 hours away. I went for an in person doctors visit yesterday. Not ready to get my hair done yet, but certainly understand why people are anxious to start that.
