I remember fast food places requiring you to be at east 16 ( back in the 90s-, so don't know how much that matters.)
Did he try movie theaters?

Re: where can my young BIL look for a job
my first job was a supermarket - i think at that young of an age they have restrictions on how many hours you can work, or only until certain times
fast food places, bakery, retail stores may hire as a stock person, movie theatres, local mom n pop stores..

I worked as a retail manager. Most places will require you to be 16 or 18.
Tell him to check his local library for options.
In may, he can apply for the SYEP program. Its a lottery system but it gives teens Summer Jobs.

Does he have something he's really good at? I know kids who fix computers or help older people learn basic computer skills

Re: where can my young BIL look for a job
He can umpire or ref some sports. He can probably be a bus boy at a restaurant. He could probably sweep hair at a barber shop or hair place. Tell him to go through the nearest mall/shopping center and go into each store to ask how old you have to be to work there. He might get a few bites that way!

Operate the games at Adventureland. This is what a bunch of my friends and I did because they were the only place that would hire at 14.

Re: where can my young BIL look for a job
My first job was working in the store part of an orchard.
With that said, don't know where he lives, but maybe he would be able to find something in one of the farm places out East.

where can my young BIL look for a job
I worked at a bagel store on the weekends at that age.
During the summer I was a lifeguard at a day camp. I got that job through my swim coach who also worked at the camp during the summer.

Re: where can my young BIL look for a job
When I was 14 I worked at my local library. They hired a few kids my age to work in different departments. Maybe he can look into that.
other jobs my brother did at his age were bowling alley snack bar waiter, jr camp counselor, and then he worked at a supermarket

where can my young BIL look for a job
I always worked in restaurants when I was in highschool/college. I made way more money than my friends who worked retail, fast food, etc so I always recommend this to young people. At 14 some places may hire him as a host or bus boy and as he gets older he could work his way up to a waiter position. I think this is the most lucrative route to go. I would tell him to dress nice and go apply EVERYWHERE.
