Where or what else can we do in Mystic besides Mystic Aquarium?

So we're thinking of taking our son who's 2 and half years old to Mystic Aquarium. Where else can we take him thats near by? I would like to pack in another place on the same day or maybe not.But if you all have any good recommendation, please let me know =) Also, do you all think going to Mystic aquarium just for one day is fine? We're thinking of just going and coming back the same day but in the evening. Tia!

The seaport is close by and lots of fun to walk around. It was great for DS since it's basically lots of different buildings and boats to walk in and around, so we were constantly moving.

We also walked around and had dinner at Mohegan Sun, which is about 20 minutes away. And there's a steam engine in Essex if you want to take a short train ride (DS looooved that).

You can absolutely do the aquarium in 1 day. I think it took us less than 2 hrs to go through the whole aquarium, and that wax with a 10 year old and a 20 month old.
