Re: Where will you be doing solar eclipse?
I will be home with my kids - I am working -they are playing .We will probably watch it live on the NASA website...if I am being totally honest I really don't care too much...I know I am probably in the minority but these things just don't interest me.

Where will you be doing solar eclipse?
I'm going to try to get my errands done before it starts so we're home for it. My brother was in Cape Canaveral recently and picked up glasses for us.

Where will you be doing solar eclipse?
I'll either be in my office working or in my car. No real interest in watching it live (don't have glasses), but I'll scope out the video afterward.

I think we're going to the pool. I have a homemade viewer that we'll bring with us.

I'm at work and not interested in going blind. Those glasses look like the old 3D glasses you'd get in a box of cereal. I'm not trusting my eyesight to those things. I'm shutting the shades in my office this afternoon. And I told DH I want my daughter in the house all afternoon. It scares the crap out of me to be honest.
Can't wait for it to be over to be honest. Done with the hype
Lol, we're hiding inside from it. I feel tempted to look at it myself. There is no way I could keep my DDs from looking at it. DD3 is too young and even if I gave DD1 & DD2 glasses, I'm sure they'd take them off. DH told me last night he bought himself glasses from the candy/card store. I told him I saw something about fake eclipse glasses and he said the store owner "wouldn't sell fake ones", but I don't trust them.

LOL- i just went out to grab lunch and even though nothing is started yet, I found myself tempted to look at the sun. It's like this weird thing with me....I get an urge to do something I know I can't do. I need to hide when this thing starts.

Same. I can see the replay later, LOL. I do not get all the constant hype and will be very glad when it is over. At least we can stop seeing 10 posts a minute on Facebook saying "where can I get eclipse glasses?"

Re: Where will you be doing solar eclipse?
I forgot I'm working late today so I took a late lunch. I was out on the street in the city. It was funny- the streets were mobbed with people. I didn't have glasses so I tried the selfie phone camera thing and it didn't work too great. Maybe it was the cloud cover. But people on the street were all so friendly and everyone was passing their glasses around. So I did get to see it! Pretty cool.

Re: Where will you be doing solar eclipse?
The streets of Midtown were packed. It was so cool to see, I was handing off my glasses to strangers to look up with.
The best part was while walking back to my office after the peak, my friend and I gave our glasses to a family with 2 young boys who were trying to see the eclipse thru pinholes.

Same here! It looked like a weird zombie movie with people looking through cereal boxes And it was probably a pickpocket's dream!

Where will you be doing solar eclipse?
We were outside the whole time and my 2 and 5yo never tried to look up at all. We looked through homemade pinhole viewers periodically and got pictures from our phones.

Yeah but I thought it would at least get more over cast. And the pictures people are posting online are terrible. I can't make heads or tails of them. Looks like the sun shining.

Where will you be doing solar eclipse?
My 4 yo enjoyed seeing it thru the eclipse glasses, and my 1 yo had no clue what was going on since it didn't even get dark. I thought it was cool to see thru the glasses, but if I didn't have them I wouldn't have even noticed anything different from an ordinary day, except I think the temp felt a little cooler during the peak of it.

Yeah, it's really difficult to see with the phone camera. The eclipse is actually next to the big bright spot. And it's so tiny, you can barely see it. I tried zooming in and it just looked weird and grainy though you could see it was the actual eclipse.
Some of the photographers who have posted photos though... WOW. I follow a photographer from Missouri and OMG... they are incredible!
Link- Emily Lucarz FB.
ETA: Of course, they had a better viewpoint in Missouri... eh maybe in 2024!

Re: Where will you be doing solar eclipse?
We were supposed to get the total eclipse here in Charleston. However it was dark clouds by us and we saw 1/8th of the eclipse. When the total eclipse happened it was dark for about 3 minutes we got a really cool lightning show...and then that was it. It was really kind of a let down.
Kind of feel bad for all the tourists we have down here. But then...they made my commute cruddy today so not really lol.

I had glasses and shared them with a bunch of my co-workers. One guy took pics with a real camera, through the lens of the glasses:

Re: Where will you be doing solar eclipse?
This is so silly...we took selfies, pictures with camera and phone, and we lived to tell, and so did our phones and cameras Mass hysteria over this thing...cracks me up!! I know people that wouldn't even let their kids outdoors!! We were at Sailor's Haven, and honestly most of the kids weren't even interested beyond looking through their glasses every 15 minutes or so.

Where will you be doing solar eclipse?
I was in Montauk when it was all going on. We went from the beach to our hotel pool but they closed the pool because of it! I guess they didn't want the liability lol. The town was busy with people looking at it through their glasses. I didn't have glasses and just didn't look up. Totally not the big deal that people were making it out to be.
