Where would you retire?
Curious where others would move to. Way off in the future for me but nice to think of. So where would you or where are you planning to retire to?

Re: Where would you retire?
Florida. As far south in the state as possible. Most likely on the gulf coast. Almost everyone we met on a recent trip down there had relocated there from NY or NJ and every single one said they would NEVER go back . They all loved it.

Re: Where would you retire?
Somewhere in the Alps (Germany). I’m at the base of the Alps, but I’d like to actually be in them, like Berectsgaden or something. I also like the Taunus mountain range.
But I’ll probably never retire, so there’s that.

I guess it would depend on where my kids go.

A dream would be Italy. Realistically somewhere South. Florida or the Carolinas.

Most of my family and one of my best friends live on the gulf coast of FL. It’s like my second home at this point, I know it so well. There are some really great small towns with great vibes on the gulf coast. I’ve been to the east coast of FL (have family there too) and it’s a really different vibe there. Plus the gulf is always a lot warmer than the ocean

Re: Where would you retire?
North Carolina area, give or take. Further south than LI, but not too far south. Still on the east coast. Much better cost of living. Not trapped on an island with only a few options to get off of it, especially during rush hour.

Where would you retire?
Wherever my kids settle. I refuse to be the grandma that sends a card and a check for birthdays. I will definitely be pushing them to leave New York.

Re: Where would you retire?
South Carolina, outside of Hilton Head. I need to be near the water and close to an airport.
We only have each other to think of, no children, so retirement will be wherever we want it to be. Definitely not in NY or Florida.

Yes, it's almost like a different state! And the beaches are soooo much nicer with powder sand on the gulf too. My happy place!

Where would you retire?
God I hope my kids leave Long Island. I don't know where I'd want to retire, but it will definitely be complicated by where my kids go and if they have kids. My first thought is Vermont/New Hampshire/Berkshires, but I don't know if I want to deal with the snow in the winter, but I don't really like warm places either.

Same here. I might go earlier than retirement. So done with NY.

We'd love to also, we vacation on St. John every year and have many friends there, but it's hard living. Everything is so expensive and most islanders go to the mainland for serious medical care. Last week a friend posted that peppers were $7.99 per pound at the market !

Well since the only way I'm retiring is if I hit the Mega Millions, I'd be ok paying $7.99 for a pound of peppers
