Re: Where's your "home away from home"?
the boardwalk and "a time for karma" store in RVC...between the incense and the music and how different religions are represented in harmony...it's just so peaceful. I always take a deep breath in and out as soon as i walk in and then i don't want to leave. I like the classes there too

Re: Where's your "home away from home"?
As a mom, I actually really look forward to going back to work each Monday morning.
I like a lot of my co-workers and we joke around a lot and have fun. I feel like I do adult stuff and use my brain, we often go to lunch and have extremely interesting conversations.
I also stop at a Panera by my job a few mornings a week to just have a cup of coffee and clear my head. All the regulars know me and it's nice.
Also my yoga studio. It's nice to have that place to go to where you don't have to talk to anyone, and no one bothers you.
I also enjoy going Upstate to my parents house and to my sister's in PA. It's so nice to get away from the craziness of LI, if only for a couple of days here and there.

Where's your
The Library, any book store.....too bad they all went out of business around me. The gym but only when I am in my "work out phase", once I get out of it, the gym is a tough place to be. Home Goods, Michaels & Italy. I have only been there once on my HM, but DH and I right away felt "at home" every where we went. It was so hard to leave and we are desperate to go back ASAP! We loved it so much, we already started saving to by a 2nd home there once DH retires.

Re: Where's your "home away from home"?
My sisters bought my childhood home together. When I go there, I can literally put my feet up and just relax. Brings me right back to my carefree days. And since my big sister has always been kind of a caregiver to my little sis and I, she still gets me food and treats and stuff! LOL
And Robert Moses - although I guess that may not be an option this summer. I feel completely at ease there.
I would have included Gardiner's Park.. but the dog owners have gotten gross and never seem to pick up the mess from their animals so it's not as relaxing as it used to be when I'm constantly on the lookout for brown surprises.

The beach or really anywhere near the ocean. My one grandfather was a fisherman and the other repaired boats so I guess it's in my veins.
