Which car seat do you have?

What kind of car seat do you have?

Can you please tell me the pros and cons of it?

Megan has finally almost outgrown her infant seat Chat Icon and I have to get her a car seat.

I would like an excellent one for our car and a bit of a cheaper one for my moms car.

Thanks!

Re: Which car seat do you have?

We have Evenflo Triumphs for both kids. They are always in my car, a Toyota Camry. We liked that it was just as highly rated by Consumer Reports as the Britax, but about half the price.

The only complaint I have about it is that now that we have one behind each front seat, it's difficult to adjust the straps in the rear facing one. But I think part of that is the way that Toyota made the backseat.

I've seen some people complain that their kid was able to get the cover off and pick at the styrofoam underneath, Sarah was never interested in it and so far Andy's been leaving it alone.

Re: Which car seat do you have?

Britax Boulevard - cons - it's big and has a lot of padding. pros - it's got the highest rating for side impact protection.

We love it.

Britax Marathon: LOVE IT!!
Evenflo Triumph: The straps get twisted and he just seems so tight in it. I am not a fan!

Britax Marathon
Houndsooth for Andrew
Dragonfly Couture for Lauren

Love them. They are BIG, but that's good because my kids are too. I love that the straps never tangle. Easy to install to with Latch.

I have the Recaro Young Sport and DH has the Triumph. Love the Recaro - the Triumph, not so much (DH wants to get another Recaro instead).

Same one, same pros and cons. We also have a Wizard for DS, which was the model that preceded the Boulevard, with the same type of side-impact protection.

Also, the Boulevard is one of the few carseats that can use the top tether when in the rear-facing position. The top tether attaches to the floor towards the front of the car (or to the back of the seat it's sitting on) to keep the seat more secure during an accident. Many seats aren't designed for this.

Britax Marathon - we LOVE it! It was easy to install, easy to adjust the straps and seems comfy for Emily. She's tall so we like that it's large so we won't have to replace it soon.

I'd just like to point out that my Evenflo, you can use the top tether in the rear-facing position, as well.

That's good. Chat Icon There are a couple out there that are designed for that, but you need to check the owner's manual. Too many babies get hurt because parents put the top tether on rear-facing, and the seat isn't designed for it. Just one more thing to check for.....

Re: Which car seat do you have?

Depends on your car.
I have a roundabout in our Accord and a Marathan in our Pilot. The Marathan would not fit easily into the Accord IMO.
The roundabout is great, but they outgrow it much faster. Molly fits nicely into her Marathan still but is really not super comfortable in her roundabout anymore. I am going to use it for Jason and get Molly a Safety 1st 5-point harness booster seat for the Accord.

I don't believe in getting a cheaper seat for a 2nd car because an accident is an accident and you can't dictate when it would happen or what car the baby will be in. IMO, I would get a roundabout for your mom's car and a marathan for your car. That way you don't have to replace 2 car seats in a few years- only the roundabout.

We have 4 marathons and have no complaints.

FYI my husband has 2 in his Civic, and they fit fine. No room for an additional passenger in the back, but that's what our SUV is for. Chat Icon

This is the one we have too and we love it for the same reasons as above.
My DS is very tall, so this one should last for a while.

Re: Which car seat do you have?

Britax marathon and no major complaints except for my DD hates itChat Icon but thats not the manufacturers fault its mine for having a child with the same strong willed temperment as my own who refuses to be reined in!!!

The only thing I dont like is that its not a very nice looking seat...I got the black and gray one as I didnt like a lot of the other patterns. My sister lives in europe and she has had much nicer car seats than mine...but thats only a minor thing.

Re: Which car seat do you have?

I have the Britax Roundabout. Same in ratings as the Marathon but smaller because it only goes up to 40lbs. I got it for 2 reasons 1) I have a small car and 2) I plan on putting DD in a booster seat after 40lbs anyway. I don't have a "big" baby. She is growing right on schedule so I figure she'll be 3-4yrs old (maybe older) by the time she reaches 40lbs.
