Which caribbean island/resort would you recommend for a family trip?
Not sure if this is travel, still parenting related. Any suggestions?

My sis did a recent trip to Aruba with her dd. Said it was the best place and very family oriented. Loved it!
ETA: she is going to plan to go back every yr.

I looked into Beaches but it was like $6K for 4 nights (with flight) - I can't pay that

This is where I'd love to go, but we have no direct flights from Chicago. It was like an all day affair to get there. Now I'm looking into the Disney cruise to the Caribbean. It's 7 nights and looks like the best of both worlds (Mickey Mouse aka DD's best friend and warm Caribbean beaches for me.)

Punta Cana ( DR) and my Ds also loved Cancun...Both super short flights, and family friendly !

I haven't been there yet, but when I used to be in the hotel business multiple co-workers with families raved about the Westin in St. John. My old boss is going back for the 3rd time with her 2 kids in March.

Re: Which caribbean island/resort would you recommend for a family trip?
I've been to Aruba a few times. The last time I went we statyed at the Mariott surf club which was very family oriented. Even though we didn't have kids we weren't bothered or anything. It was a very nice atmosphere all around. I would suggest the Mariott Surf Club.
There is also the Holiday Inn a few resorts down. I saw tons of families there. It's just a little small I think as far as the pool and beach area. But I'm sure much more affordable.
Check those two out. Good luck and have fun.

What month did you go? Maybe it's b/c it's winter. I saw your review and thought it looked perfect, so I priced it and was like GEEZZZ that's a couple mortgage payments, not a weekend trip!

We went in the end of January...an "off" time so it wouldn't cost more.

Re: Which caribbean island/resort would you recommend for a family trip?
We went to Barbados Hilton. OMG loved it. It was DD's birthday and the chef made her a Tiramisu cake with gold leaf and handmade chocolates--NO CHARGE. Also they had activities for the kids like movie night, playdates etc. It was so worth it. DD doesnt want to go back to Jamaica and she loved Jamaica too.

I would consider St Thomas (you can take a ferry over to St John and trunk bay) or Aruba. Both of them are family oriented and have good hotels and nice beaches.

We have been to Aruba twice with DS. We stay at Marriott Surf Club but in the timeshare section. I highly recommend the hotel there!

Went here on my babymoon. There were so many families here! I would bring DD here in a heartbeat!

Re: Which caribbean island/resort would you recommend for a family trip?
We took DD to Aruba and loved it there. Although DH and I were there and stayed at the Radisson (pre-DD) and would stay there if we went back. It's great!
We also took DD to St. Maarten and stayed at the Westin (I think) and loved it!
