which dress for black tie optional wedding? POLL
Have a sat night "black tie optional" wedding coming up. It's going to be at a modern venue. If it matters, the bride wanted to make it black tie but didn't want guys to feel that they had to rent tuxes. She did say "you can never be over dressed."
so...which dress?
FYI my husband likes the black and feels like the sparkly one is too "loud." lol
eta: I guess I have a loud personality and have always wanted to wear a sparkly gown. However, do you think it will be too much i.e look like I'm trying to upstage the bride?

I would go with the black because it is darker. The sparkly one is champagne and I would worry if the bride wore an ivory dress. But I love both!

Both are gorgeous. I would personally go with the sparkly gown, there will be so many women in black dresses, why not go bold?

There's always THAT GIRL at a wedding... and if she's not wearing hot pink or showing too much cleavage, she's wearing that sparkly dress.
I totally understand why you love it though. I've come close to being THAT GIRL at a wedding once... luckily the real THAT GIRL was wearing hot pink.

Sounds like the bride to be is encouraging guests to be glammed up, so sparkly gets my vote.

I 100% say #2!! They are both gorgeous but I don't think #1 really does anything and unless you're stick thin and have a severe bun in your hair, it will look bulky (in my opinion). I like the way it looks on the model but would be hard to pull off in a way that makes a WOW impression.
#2, on the other hand, looks gorgeous and FUN!! I absolutely love it and i've always wanted to wear a dress like that. I don't know what the poster above meant by being "that girl." It's not a crotch bearing mini skirt, it's a beautiful dress.

Wow,still tied!
The sparkly dress is actually rose gold in person, not champagne if it matters to other voters. I had to take another dress out of the running because it was like a nudey champagne color and gauzy.
I love both dresses too! Just not sure what kind of look I want to go with. More sophisticated or more fun/glamorous.
I had a baby three months ago so I think maybe the black would be more forgiving...altho like pp said, it may end up making me look more wide.
both dresses come in today so I guess I'll decide tonight. The wedding is this saturday lol. always waiting till the last minute

I would do the black ONLY because you said your DH liked it better. If I narrow something down to 2 dresses that I liked, then I’d ask him which he liked better and go with his choice. I guess it's silly, and I know I am in the minority on it, but I love to dress up for my boyfriend and would always pick whichever one he liked better.

That's the only way to do it. One may have a much more flattering fit than the other on your body. Or you may find the champagne color doesn't work for you.
Everything looks great on the model because it's pinned & clipped to fit her figure.

Re: which dress for black tie optional wedding? POLL
grrr so the black didn't look good on me anyway. felt like i was still in maternity and as pp said, made me look wide. sparkly is pretty and i like it but dh still wasn't sold sooo i was able to get this one
has a similar silhouette as the sparkley so hoping it is flattering. DH likes it because it's more classy/sophisticated. trying it on tonight. if I don't like it, i'm wearing the sparkly one! DH will just have to wear sunglasses
thanks fort he help!!
