Who else is in DENIAL!
I am in COMPLETE DENIAL about having to go back to school Monday!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I haven't spoken about or thought about school in almost 2 weeks!! I am a first year teacher, and going almost 2 weeks without even thinking about work made me feel like I'm a student again, on break.
I miss college breaks :( 5 weeks of nothing but catching up with friends and relaxing.
I am going to go back to school with a whole new approach! I am not going to take school stress home with me. I used to say I can't help it ... but I can! I am going to leave school, at school, and come home to relax with my DH. I have had ENOUGH and it took this 2 week break to make me realize it!

Good for you! I need to do this too. I let school stress effect my home life, it's not healthy. I'm going to make it my new years resolution.

good for you! it took me 4 years to have that attitude! and really, it all gets done anyway, so why ruin your break worrying about it all?
and yes, like you, I am not ready to go back!

I don't want to go to sleep tonight..knowin that tomorrow is my last day. .my students stress me out..plus it's test prep until the ela test on january 21..gettin tired of it!
how many days till our next break in feb..then april..then ahh the summer!!!

at least from this point on the breaks are approximately 6 weeks apart!

You sound like me last year! I was working my tail off, and then after the holiday break, I did the same thing you did--I took a whole different approach and stopped stressing out so much!!
It makes a world of difference! You'll feel much better!

Welllllllll.....I won't lie, it's a little harder to get EVERYTHING done that way. But you'll learn to prioritize things, so that only the really important, time-sensitive stuff gets done that day. Some things you'll never get to--for me, it was my filing cabinet that was still full of the previous teacher's stuff...but you'll be doing enough to get by.
It may seem like not getting EVERYTHING done will stress you out, but you'll be amazed at how much better you'll feel!
When I close and lock my classroom door in the afternoon, it's symbolic for me: All of my work-related stress and all of the work I need to do stays locked in that room until the next day.

Thank you  I am really inspired and that is what I plan on doing.
There is no need to take all that stress home with me. Now that I think about it, not EVERYTHING gets done even when I DO take the stress home with me and try to get things done. It is impossible for it all to get done, but I'll do what I can.
I hope I don't sound like a terrible teacher saying this, but it's just a job! And I value my home life too much to let my job take over. I was getting burnt out, the old way.
I plan on locking my door and making it "symbolic" just as you do. I really like that idea!

I am in denial of going back to work tomorrow! I do not want to get up at 5 am! And I have a long day tomorrow (lots of meetings after school)!
I will say that I did no work over break! After 8 years, I refuse to do school work over vacations. I planned out the next 3 weeks before I left school for the break! Bring on midterm week! I am ready!

Doesn't February break just RULE! I think it's my favorite of all the breaks....well the short breaks, that is. It's always something wonderful to look forward to during the Jan/Feb doldrums.

YES! DH and I already have that break planned out!!
I honestly feel like it's coming up soon! It's NEXT MONTH! These next 2 weeks will be a pain because my students are taking the ELA exam the week of MLK week. After the ELA exams are over, 3 weeks left and then the next break!!!!!
My DH isn't a teacher and he gets a kick out of all the breaks we get! I was talking about the april break today and he goes, "Wait, you get a break in April, too?!?!"  Boy, do we deserve it though!
