who here split up the MMR shot ?
how does that work? i just ask the dr to give DD one at a time over then next couple of months?

First, your doctor has to be willing to order separate shots. Most peds are not willing to do that. Mine will do it and DS is going to get his rubella shot at 18 months, his mumps shot at 2 years and his measels at 2 1/2 or 3 years.
You can administer them on whatever timetable you like.

Just keep in mind, if your DC goes to preschool or daycare, splitting it up might not be an option for you.

My dr. said that they can't (or won't) order it that way. She said she would administer it if I could get it somehow. (yeah, how would I do that?)

You can order it. Just ask the nurse or receptionist what pharmacutical company they order from and call them directly.
I think you have to pay for it though.
I also think insurance doesn't cover it split.

I did it. Our ped. actually said to me "We will add you to the list". I was shocked there was a list..LOL.
I had to pay a copay each time I went. No biggie.
Bryan had round 1 in Jan (12 months), Round 2 in Feb (13 months) and Round 3 in March (14 months).
When I asked, the ped had no problem and no question as to why I wanted to do it. Like I said, he added me to the list.

I think the problem is that doctors have to order 10 vial doses, so if they don't have other clients who want to split the shot they are stuck with the extra vials.
My original ped told me they weren't manufactured that in individual doses. 
I quickly left the practice after I found out the truth -- I would have been fine if he told me he wasn't willing to order individual doses, but I don't like being lied to.
