While I think Geico is the cheapest, every time DH or I had to deal with a claim through them it was a PITA.
We just recently switched to Allstate. We're paying about $100 more/6 months, but for mespending the extra money is worth it if I don't have to deal with Geico.

LOVE both Geico and Progressive. I go between the two and they are literally the best priced insurance out there.

What is considered cheap?
I have liberty Mutual full coverage and pay $927a yr. for one car. No tix or accidents - D.Driving discount.

That's funny because I did the opposite. I used to have Liberty Mutual for years, then switched to GEICO.
I found with Liberty Mutual, they started increasing my rates every renewal period even though I had a clean driving record. I got tired of the constant rate increases so I left them.
Pay attention to your rates...I hope they don't increase yours every renewal.
ETA: I had been very happy with Liberty Mutual, just got tired of the rate increases.

Geico all the way
I had a claim with them years ago and they did great....I never have any issues with them.
And since I've been with them for so long, I can't get a better rate anywhere else now. HA

Used to have Geico, but switched and saved.
I have heard from a couple of friends that have worked at Geico that it is great for a cut-rate company until you get into an accident. The claims department is awful. In order to spend on the large amount of marketing and offer low rates, they treat their employees like cr@p. They under-hire and overwork their employees. The last number I heard was that they turn over 60% of their claims employees each year, leaving very few experienced reps.
So...moral of the story is if you go with Geico, just make sure you never have an accident, especially not one that is any part your fault.

weird because I was involved in an accident (a small percentage was my fault) and had no problem with Geico at all. It was handled quick and service was great.

We just switched to progressive, found it was the cheapest for us. We did the snapshot thing and got huge discounts as well.

I love Geico..they are very affordable BUT I have never had to file a claim or anything with them so I dont know how they are in that department.

I have state farm, and have been happy with them. I also have my homeowners with them, it helps to get a multi-line discount especially with alot of other companies pulling off long island.

My family works in the business and always says this about Geico!

I know a lot of people say they are not pleased with Geico, but I've had it for years and always had great luck and service. They were always on the ball about things and I never got screwed...even when I hit DH's car when was backing out of our driveway.

Progressive is great and competitively priced. I used to have Geico and I had a terrible experience with them. They are shady to say the least...if you go with Geico just pray you never have a claim.
