Our parents always try to pay. On occasion we get the bill paid first. I taught my DH the "I'll be right back" thing where you track down your waiter/waitress & pay the bill before your guest.
That's our situation to a "T"

Both are moms are widows so we tend to pick up the tab since it's just one more or we split it.

I voted other, when my Dad takes us out he treats, we always treat my Mom and usually split the bill with IL's.

I would say that parents pay more than we do. If we invite them, we pay, if they invite us, they usually pay. We always end up fighting for the bill.

ITA. Both of our parents will pay unless it is something like mothers day or we literally BEG them to let us pay and even then they are not happy about it.

My inlaws are the total opposite, they always pay, no matter what, if we even lay out a nickel, they give it back to us.
IF we go to a restaurant with valet he will give DH a few dollars to tip the valet.
Its crazy how some families can be so opposite

I said "other" because a fight always ensues when the check is dropped on the table.
it has come down to my Mom pretending she has to go to the ladies room and then pays the check 
or DH telling the waiter/waitress when we first sit down that he gets the check. which makes my Mom

i said other - if it's for an occasion, my parents pay, but if it's just for a weeknight dinner, we share the cost of the bill.
ETA: forgot about the ILs... they always pay, we do try to offer them $$ but they always wave us off.

Typically, if it's DH's Dad, he pays....
If it's my parents, DH and I usually pay... they're on a fixed income and we want to help them out where we can.

My dad has no problem treating me when its just us, but if we are out with my DH, my dad expects DH to pay always...
We stopped going out

we pay 90% of the time.
I let dad pay every now and again. They are on a fixed income. I'm not. I let him pay sometimes because it makes him feel good.
Mom always wants to pay but she's not always aware of their financial situation.

I would say, 99% of the time, our parents pay. They get very insulted if we even offer 
The 1% is for when my parents take us away (we go away with them at least once a year). DH and I insist on taking them out for dinner. We don't tell them which nite we are paying we just pick up the tab. This avoids any arguments or them picking a cheap restaurant

When we go out to dinner with my parents, they tend to pay. Only a couple times in the past decade have they let us pay.
When we go out to dinner with my MIL we always pay. She doesn't make much money, and I'd feel bad having her pay for herself.
As for FIL and his girlfriend, we have never been out to dinner with them ever, cause well...they suuck.
OMG, do we have the same family? Because I would have written the exact same thing, word for word!

Yup... same here. My parents and in-laws always pay. We're they're children and they enjoy taking us out. Besides, my parents have expensive taste. LOL
