Re: Who pays for dinner?

Parents usually pay, whoever we are out with. When we are out with both sets of parents at the same time, they take turns.

If we go out and pick up food to bring back, we'll pay sometimes.

Re: Who pays for dinner?

My parents usually pay (although we try- and have succeeded a few times by intercepting the check before it gets to the table)

We've actually never really gone out with my MIL...but we would probably pay if we did since she struggles a bit.

Re: Who pays for dinner?

My parents never let us pay. When we go out with his parents sometimes they pay or we will split it, depending who else is with us.

Re: Who pays for dinner?

My father always paid. It was a rare event that he would let us pay, but he would get a very proud look on his face everytime DH or I offered, or stole the check and paid Chat Icon

My mother will always pay if my brother(s) are with us at dinner. Otherwise, she will let us pay on occasion, though I would say 70% of the time, she's the one treating us to the meal.

Re: Who pays for dinner?

My parents ALWAYS pay for us.

My inlaws, we split.
We also dont go out often with them, not for that reason though.
My FIL can be very very difficult and chooses to b it ch about all, the one who is never happy and sends back food..etc, and THAT makes you loose your appetite.

Re: Who pays for dinner?

DH's parents usually pay unless it's something where we specifically say we are taking them out.

With my mom and brother we always pay.

Re: Who pays for dinner?

When out with my parents - my parents. When out with DH's parents - we do - they don't even open their wallets. So annoying.

Re: Who pays for dinner?

They usually don't want us to pay but we insist on splitting the check or paying. They do so much for us that it's a small way of us showing our appreciation to them.

Us.

DH's parents are retired and on a very fixed income. We don't usually "go out" with them, but when they are over and we order in, we will always pay and fight not to take money from them.

Same with my mom, she is not retired but my Dad died and so she is living on her income. We will always pay for her.

We feel to guilty taking money from them after all they have done for us over the years. I kind of feel like it is our time to take care of them.

It depends. Sometime my parents pay and sometimes we pay. I guess we take turns paying. With DH's family we always split it.

Re: Who pays for dinner?

ILs we always pay.

My parents together, they pay.

My dad solo, pays.

My mom solo, we pay. Chances are if we are out with my mom, she just spent a lot on my kid, so its the least we can do.

my Father ALWAYS pays

regardless of my age or how much money I make- in his eyes- I will always be a KID

My dad has no problem treating me when its just us, but if we are out with my DH, my dad expects DH to pay always...

We stopped going out

Same here, we don't go out anymore, and if we do , I wind up kicking DH under the table if he dare take out his wallet Chat Icon
