I will never switch to FIOS because they don't offer MSG.
So no Islanders, Rangers, Knicks, or Nets if you have FIOS.
really? i have Fios and get MSG.. i watch all the islander games..
Then I stand corrected. I just looked at their full channel guide and didn't see it.
What's the channel number?
ETA: Do you get it in HD?

Re: Who's made the switch from Optimum to Verizon Fios?
That's bizarre.
When I put my address in to check availability at www.fios.tv it finds my address, then I click channels on the left to get the full channel list for ALL. Nothing listed under 80 and 81.
In channel order, ESPN2 is 74, then the next channel is Speed Channel at 83.
But when I clock on "PDF Channel Lineup", it shows channel 80 and 81 there.
What a stupid company. They should fix that.

Re: Who's made the switch from Optimum to Verizon Fios?
We have FIOS. No problems what-so-ever, we've had it over a year now.
We never had Cablevision for tv, we got hooked on BBCAmerica when we had TimeWarner cable and used Directv when we moved back to Nassau.
We did have OptOnline for internet, we don't see a difference in service with FIOS.

Re: Who's made the switch from Optimum to Verizon Fios?
I have had FIOS for over 2 years and I LOVE it!!!!!!
As for the internet, mine is faster than when I had Cablevision. They have different sppeds I beleive and I think I have the slower one!
I haven't used the "program your DVR online" thingy yet, but I LOVE that the option is there!
In 2 years I have had maybe 3 technical issues and they were all resolved by cust support pretty easily.

If you pay extra for the boost with cablevision I believe its faster. Verizon offers the following speeds....20/5 and 20/20

Re: Who's made the switch from Optimum to Verizon Fios?
To clear up some issues...
-MSG is not offered in HD on FIOS -Boost is faster on Cablevision but for what its worth, FIOS signal is up there so really, there is no difference on the 20/5 speed. -Unless you are doing some major transfers from your corpate server or something, there is no need to hit 20 meg upload -FIOS has a crisper picture as they are not encodeing/decodeing the signals like Cablevision -The guide and dvr are amazing on FIOS. Not perfect but much improved from cableivison. Menus are quick on FIOS -Channels change instally on FIOS where Cablevison has a 3 second delay -YES, you must watch your bill as they do mess up often -You need a box per TV where cable, you can get away with basic channels without one.
Any other questions, i'll try to answer.

I know this is an old thread, but someone here said you can get basic channels without a box from FIOS. Can anyone verify that?

Re: Who's made the switch from Optimum to Verizon Fios?
We have an adapter in our guest room which allows us to get basic channels from FIOS. We do have the full FIOS package on other TVs though.

Re: Who's made the switch from Optimum to Verizon Fios?
Do you pay for the adapter? I Have 2 rooms, that only need the basics, so i would hate to pay for 2 boxes that i really dont use. And just keep main box on my main TV...

Re: Who's made the switch from Optimum to Verizon Fios?
there are digital adapter boxes for $3.99 each. You get all the channels that you are subscribed to, the only difference with these boxes is that they are not high definition, you don't get the interactive media guide showing whats on now, whats coming on etc and you cannot use on demand or pay per view features

Re: Who's made the switch from Optimum to Verizon Fios?
Is that 3.99 for the adapter , per month? or is it something i pick up from store? Thanks so much for answering this, it seems like it may pay out cheaper to switch to FIOS... Thanks again for your answers.

Re: Who's made the switch from Optimum to Verizon Fios?
I Just went to there site, and i see that it is per month...Thanks anyway. I Wonder how hard it is if i want to add another TV down the road, can i just run the coax cable myself? Or is it special where they have to do it?
