I hate that all this Trump noise is overshadowing the fact that we will have a female VP, of color. This is huge for us females and for African, Asian American community. As a female you should be proud to see that, especially after everything that has been going on and coming to light with us women in the last few years.

I’m proud as a Latina and Woman!

Yes! Today is a wonderful day to celebrate!

Yes! As a white, middle-age, middle-class man, I'm happy to see this, too.

It feels like a weight has been lifted!

Re: Who's nervous for tomorrow's outcome?

So far, all of the fraud is from the GOP. Trump committed voter fraud himself, the GOP has done illegal gerrymandering, voter suppression, removing polling places in areas where they think are mostly Democratic voting areas, voter intimidation, etc, etc.

All of these illegal activities, and they still lost... and absolutely no proof of any of the "claimed" fraud on the Democrat side....

Maybe 4 million more Americans are tired of the President and GOP committing Federal crimes on a routine basis, and destroying our Country.

... and the Trump Party is NOT the Republican Party. I feel bad for actual Republicans. I used to understand their stances, and agree with some of them. That hasn't happened since Newt Gingrich, sadly...

it's almost like a sense of peace and calm. Even though I know Trump is going to start his crap. But right now I am enjoying this moment. It's also great to see my son Dancing and Jumping around so happy, chanting Biden is president. Trust me he did not get that from me, but it's nice.

Also the beautiful weather is just an added light!

This is not over and the media announcing it is the winner. The states have to announce it and as far as I know, they have not.

It is WAY too beautiful though so can't bother with this all day. Going to enjoy the day and run some errands and pray for this country.

Right now it’s a projection but I’m sorry to break the news to you. I’m pretty sure it’s over for Trump.

But enjoy the nice weather because we know for certainty this will be short lived.Chat Icon

In all sincerity though I do hope that you feel OK about the next four years. At minimum, I hope nothing changes for you in your life and at best, I hope that things get better for you (and all of us).

For so many, things have not been great at all for four years directly because of this administration. I wouldn’t wish that on anyone.

I don’t feel ok at.all, sorry. I hope not much changes as we have been doing better and better and it feels good to have a little leeway financially. That helps with a lot in life, especially raising a family.

With the current laws and policies in place, it is literally unconstitutional to require ID to vote.
In NY, there is no way for most people to get a free gov't issued ID card. That means, you have to pay to vote. Paying to vote violates the 24th Amendment. It's essentially a "Poll Tax".

You can agree or disagree with needing ID, but right now, it's illegal to require it.

NYC does have the IDNYC program, where you can get a free ID, but Suffolk County doesn't.

It should not be illegal. U’re supposed to prove ur identity in other situations, why not when voting? Passports, birth certificate, etc, there are more than one way to prove identity.

Passports cost money. Birth certificate doesn't is pure text, with no signature. That doesn't prove you are currently a citizen, live in the State that you're trying to vote in, etc.

Right now, in most areas, there is no free way to prove your identity. This year, it is unconstitutional to require ID. I'm not saying things can't change, just right now it's against the law, as written, to require ID.

And who is going to verify that the ID you show is legit? Is that 80 year old grandma really going to know if the piece of paper I show her is real, or a forgery?

I've noticed that my signature has changed a little over the years. My signature doesn't match my registration signature exactly. It's close, but not a perfect match. They looked at the two, and said it's OK.

My signature never looks exactly the same either. I understand it’s illegal at the present moment to ask for ID but moving forward that should be a requirement. Logically it’d leave very little room (if not none) for any type of mistake. The majority of people have already some type of identification, and if they don’t, they should be able to get it with government assistance if necessary.

SSN numbers aren’t required and won’t be because again, it’s widely known that election fraud is so extremely rare.

Voter suppression isn’t - less polling locations, ****** voting hours and so on. It’s harder to vote for most people of color in the US than it is to commit fraud.

Doesn't prove I live in NY, or am even still a US Citizen. Just that at some point in the past, I happened to be registered. It's also just a number, so it doesn't prove that the number is mine. No signature or picture, even.

Many places that are predominantly POC, and have a Republican controlled government have significantly less polling places.

https://www.governing.com/topics/politics/sl-polling-place-close-ahead-of-november-elections-black-voters.html

https://newrepublic.com/article/151966/gops-sneakiest-voter-suppression-tactic

...
Texas, where Ted Cruz is struggling to fend off Beto O’Rourke’s Senate challenge—and where Republicans have long feared the rising tide of young Latinos—has closed more than 400 polling places since 2013, leading the nation in that dubious statistic. Arizona, where Latinos are also threatening the GOP’s hegemony and Democrat Krysten Sinema is neck-and-neck against Rep. Martha McSally for Jeff Flake’s abandoned Senate seat, has closed 200, outpacing Texas on a per capita basis.

In Indiana, where Democratic Senator Joe Donnelly is trying to hold off mini-Trump challenger Mike Braun, more than 20 percent of polling locations have been axed. In North Carolina, Republicans have been more surgical in their approach, zeroing in on toss-up districts like majority-black Mecklenburg County, where young Democrat Dan McCready is trying to wrest away a vacant Republican seat in a tight House race. Mecklenburg is one of six counties in the state in which poll closures reduced black voter turnout by 50 percent or more in 2016.

How about Georgia, where Democrat Stacey Abrams is trying to ride an emerging Democratic majority to victory against Kemp and hasten the end of two decades of white Republican dominance? Surprise, surprise: More than 200 polls have closed since the Roberts Court gave the state a green light to discriminate. And as The Atlanta Journal-Constitution revealed this summer (Kemp’s secretary of state office conveniently keeps no track of the closures), they correlate in near-perfect synchronicity with concentrations of high poverty rates across the state—the places where fewer people have cars to drive to the polls, where public transportation is often non-existent, and where African Americans vote Democratic.

How about social security number?

Doesn't prove I live in NY, or am even still a US Citizen. Just that at some point in the past, I happened to be registered. It's also just a number, so it doesn't prove that the number is mine. No signature or picture, even.

Well then maybe we can just go with voting for the entire country and not individual states. They claim Biden won more popular votes and more than Obama Chat Icon Chat Icon

Democrats have been trying to eliminate the Electoral College for years. I'm glad you agree. Chat Icon
