My MIL lives alone (widow).
and my parents have 8 grandchildren, 4 of which live close by and are there daily.. they have triple the space she has, but I think there's is cleaner despite all that
well neither is bad at all actually 
and wanted to add: my mom is cooking around the clock and my MIL doesnt cook at all...

DH's parents' house is probably slightly neater- my mom is a clutter queen but it looks much better now that my brothers and I are gone. I am sure DH's childhood home was MUCH neater than mine.

I chose my parents but to be fair, my DH's parents are divorced. My MIL's house is immaculately clean. Now, my FIL's house on the other hand, literally makes me gag at times.  It is so cluttered, dusty, dirty...his girlfriend "cleans"..aka, she doesnt pick up things and move them, she just "cleans" around them. Their 2 dogs have their own bathroom and pee and poo on the floor and they leave it there for hours...Ugh. You don't even want to know. And my DH is aware of it too, but obviously that is his dad so what are we supposed to say!

My in-laws by far. My MIL is a neat freak. My mom is a slob (sorry mom). In her defense she always says that if she didn't have to work a full time job, she would be happy to stay home and cook and clean all day.

I would say it's a toss-up. ILs' house is cleaner but they have 2 cats. My mom's house is cluttered with toys for kids and she loves to scrapbook. She has more stamps, glue sticks, etc than anyone I've ever met.

My parents house, plus they have a maid who comes once a week.
My in-laws are clean people but there house can get VERY dusty, I'm always telling my MIL I see a lot of dust bunnies running around! She just doesn't get it.

Definitely my parents.
My parents are neat freaks like me.
My MIL tries to be neat but she just isn't so good at it. Hence DH tends to be a little on the messy side.

my parents............not that my inlaws are slobs or dirty~
my mom is just obsessed with cleaning her house and making sure it is always in order and sparkling..I am the same way and DH thinks I am crazy~
