Thank you protesters for taking my husband's first Saturday off in 6 weeks to be with you on Wall Street. Don't feel bad that I have not seen my husband in 3 weeks nor has my son had a day with him in 3 weeks.

I haven't posted on this thread, because I really am not informed enough to make a real contribution to the discussion. But from reading all the posts I don't understand why some posters are viewing these protests as a personal attack on the INDIVIDUALS to work on Wall St. We are all aware that the majority of people employed by these major corporations are working their butts off, getting laid off, taking pay cuts, etc., just like the rest of us. YOU are not "the enemy" and no one here thinks you are.
From what I can see, the desire for reform targets the major corporations and financial institutions that make up a system that doesn't work for us anymore. NOT the individual people who work hard every day for their modest salaries.
Because they're harassing all of the workers who are going to work everyday. Thats why its viewed as a personal attack.
And because they're getting violent. Its not a peaceful protest.
I can't help but respond to your claim that it's no longer a peaceful protest. This video is from the rally I was at yesterday and it is similar to what I observed all afternoon long. It gets really good at around .55 seconds ...

Yup. It is totally peaceful.
I walk through at least 2x a day

Re: Why are there no posts on anything going on in Wall Street?
I feel for the people who have family trying to get to work down there and the families of the overextended police department. I honestly and truly do.
But peaceful protests are not a bad thing. It's a movement that is calling attention to some very important things. The civil rights movement moved forward at leaps and bounds in part because of the tenacity of the people who protested and engaged and insisted that attention be paid to dire injustices. Those protests were a burden to many also..

Re: Why are there no posts on anything going on in Wall Street?
I completely agree. Our elected officials have been trying not to deal with the elephant in the room - the need for banking and campaign donation regulation. This gutsy group of people have forced these issues out into the light where maybe something will have to be done about them.
I, for one, am tired of big oil pushing our foreign policy and big banks gambling with our futures.
