why do people care if he's off the bottle
my DS is 1 yr old and drinks only sippy cups. I cant tell you how many people are like, aww he's not on the bottle anymore", all sympathetic or EVEN mad. So many family members have made it known that they feel he should still be on the bottle, like we are robbing him of being a baby I am thrilled he likes the sippy cup, we didnt push him at all, we introduced it, he just took to it, and transitioned very well. i dont know why so many people feel like hes to young to be off the bottle. If he wasnt ready, he would still be on the bottle, i think family need to mind their own business. OK vent over...thanks for listening

Oh please, I hear you loud and clear! When we got Ava off bottles right around a year old, we also moved in with my parents. They were so mad that we took her off the bottle that my mom started sneaking her bottles and got her HOOKED on them! People always criticize. We moved this week and I put Ava in a toddler bed. Well, let me tell you, I'm the devil for that in my family's eyes.

really?? wow, I didn't know it was such a big deal , DD is 10 months old and she just started drinking water from the cup by herself, and today I tried formula in the cup(just to see if she would take it) and she drank the whole thing

I totally agree with you...tell anyone who makes a comment to you to mind their own business.
When my own mother gives me unsolicited advice, I usually say to her "well I am glad I didn't ask you for your opinion" and that shuts her up and makes her laugh.
My two and a half year old still has a bottle at bedtime and I don't care (I am only going to give it up because all of our nipples are chewed through)

It's funny b/c if he was still on the bottle other people would question why he's not weaned yet. I don't really know why people care if someone else's baby is on the bottle or not. It seems like one of those situations where you are d@mned if you do and d@mned if you don't. You just worry about doing what's best for DS.

Exactly! It does not matter what it is. There is always something to comment on.

I had the exact opposite... DD is 14 months and we JUST weaned her off the bottle. You would not believe the comments we got about her still being on at 14 months, and how we needed to stop ASAP... as if she were going off to college with the bottle hanging out of her mouth!

That's what I'm facing right now.
"HE'S STILL ON THE BOTTLE!! BUT HE'S ALMOST 14 MONTHS OLD"
Like we're beating him or something.
People are stupid and most of them shouldn't be allowed to speak.

You are darned eithe way. We have a two year old that still likes his bottle. I would personally like to have him off but ........ It was bothering me more because other people had something to say. Don't you wish you could just tell people to go scratch. People always have something to say.

Darned if you do and darned if you don't.
I just think that people have control issues and that no matter WHAT you do, someone is going to have something to say.
