why do people think it's okay to say "you look tired"
why don't they just come right out with it and say, "you look like sh!t"

I hate that. It's so rude. Whenever we go visit my MIL, she says "you look tired". Well maybe it is because we worked a FULL day and then DROVE 5 hours to NY!! Ya think?

my boss told me I look terrible this morning.
Well, i do. Then I put my eyeliner and mascara on and all of a sudden I have eyes.
I still look like sh!t. This week kicked my azz as usual.

ITA.....it just makes it for a bad day. that happened to me last week. i thought i looked fine and all i got was "you have a headache or something? you look terrible"

I especially love the cooth-less men around here.
The other day I came in all done up- hair all curled, looking good (at least I thought I did!).
One of the guys- who I'm friendly with- says to me "went a little crazy with the curling iron today didn't we?"
I had to hold back from B!tch slapping him!!
Instead I said- yes I did, and I happen to like it, and no I didn't do it with you in mind so keep your comments to yourself!
At this point he gets embarrased and back pedals saying- oh no, I didn't say it looked BAD- just CURLY.. blah blah blah..
Yeah ok azzhat. You obviously have no clue how to interact with women! Go back in your hole!

I hate that too if it's someone I'm not close to...or they will ask me "what's wrong?"...NOTHING! Sometimes my expression just looks down..just the way I am.
I will however, tell my sister her hair looks greasy or she looks like $hity today Just the way we are.

When someone tells me that, and it happens alot at work (shocker!), I tell them, "thanks for saying I look like sh!t" because basically, how can looking tired ever be considered anything other than an insult? especially when it's not coming out of concern.

Someone said this to me yesterday - of course, I made up some excuse about my DS being up all night, but then I looked in the mirror b/c I thought I was looking pretty good!!! I hate when people say that!

OMG I was just talking about this!! A secretary here does this to me allll the time. I could feel so pretty one day and she'll be like.."Why do you look so tired? Are you sick? You look pale."

I'm not sure if that would bother me - I think there are times you can still look like yourself but just look tired. Hmm - I'm not sure! Either way, it is probably better not to say it! haha!
