Re: Why Why Why would anyone buy a Jeep Liberty?

I know when I bought my new SUV (Ford Escape) I could swear that I saw the gas gauge waving "bye bye" to me. My previous car was ...a car...so this little truck really sucked up the gas in comparison. But I love it anyway.

Re: Why Why Why would anyone buy a Jeep Liberty?

With gas being so high right now, yes its pretty rough to own any type of SUV

But actually I believe the Liberty is better on mileage than some other SUVs.. and its an awesome vehicle otherwise... DH used to have a Libby and we both loved it.

Now we have a Jeep Grand Cherokee and I LOVE it.. We wouldn't ever go back to a being a 2-car family, I love having one SUV and one car. But we try to limit our mileage on it.. DH (who drives from Westchester-LI) uses the car.. I use the Jeep since I only drive a few miles a day to/from the train station...

We have a Civic (30-34) and a CR-V (about 24). I just read the Liberty gets around 18!

Ah yes, no wonder........it is quite a difference from a civic to a truck. But as far as trucks go, Liberties get decent milage.

I totally agree. I mean of course - unless you really need an SUV. But how many people that drive SUVs actually use it as a "sport utility vehicle"?

You are right!!! We got a small one because of my commute. I know it isn't Jeep specific, but I feel like I saw more of a gas drop in an hour in the Liberty than a day in the CR-V. And when will the gas prices go down???????

I think it has become a trend. Think about it. Our parents drove us around perfectly safe and sound in little Toyotas and Chevy's. We were fine. But someone got the idea that kids would be safer in monster vehicles. The trend spread and people in small cars started feeling less safe with the big cars all around. At least, that is my thing. I looooove my Civic, but feel minute when I have 2 Excursions on either side, an Explorer in back of me and a Hummer trying to squeeze in. Hi!!! Feeling squished! Chat Icon Chat Icon

any SUV you drive now is a gas guzzler. I have a Pathfinder and I spend so much $$ filling it up.. gas is past $2.50 now!!! it is insane.. when i had a car, it was a lot cheaper. but i love my truck and would never give it up!

Guys!!! I swear, I'm not trying to start any arguments!!! Chat Icon I'm just frustrated because money is flying out the window and the last thing I feel like doing is paying for gas for a rental. I have to admit, it drives great...it's agressive too on the road. I'm just Chat Icon Chat Icon when I see the guage drop and I don't think I went that far!

To all you Liberty owners, I'm not denying you bought a great vehicle, I swear, I'm just venting. Please, happy driving! Chat Icon Chat Icon

Re: Why Why Why would anyone buy a Jeep Liberty?

MY old car got about 20 highway (6 cylinder) and that was low enough for me. When my lease was up I bought a Toyota Camry and LOOOOOVE it. I can drive 400 miles on one tank. A woman at work has a Suburban and she didn't believe me so I took her outside on our lunchbreak and started up the car so she could see the odometer. She was in shock!

JMO, I'd much rather spend my money on other things and try to keep the planet cleaner.

I dont think anyone was arguing, just bringing up some valid points. this is my first truck and although I love it- it is killing me in $$ for gas. between commuting from Long Beach to work and commuting to Nyack often!!!Chat Icon
unfortunately, i signed htis lease before the big boom hit with gas prices.

I do, I do!!! I take mine on the beach all the time!!!
I do want to kill myself over the gas prices lately though. When I bought it two years ago they were nowhere near this bad! I also find myself taking the train to work more often just to save on the gas $$$$
